  • Patent number: 4616925
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a reader printer which handles an image of a microfilm held by an aperture card and maintained in such a manner that the microfilm center aligns with the center of card aperture. At the time of printing, the image of the microfilm is projected by scanning from a scanning start position that is same irrespective of film sizes on a photosensitive member, and the image thereon is transferred to a paper sheet which is provided by cutting the web supplied from rolled paper. The supply of the web is controlled by a first timer which starts simultaneously with start of scanning and the cutting of the web is controlled by a second timer which starts simultaneously with expiration of the first timer.

  • Patent number: 4613851
Abstract: At least two magnetic-reed switches are mounted at spaced angular locations beneath the scale of a Bourdon-type pressure gage wherein the needle tip carries a permanent magnet. The reed switches change their respective states upon sensed-pressure descent to first and second predetermined levels of pressure, respectively indicative of different impending needs to switch a new container into the line of pressure delivery to beverage-dispensing apparatus. In one form, the impending needs reflect corresponding situations of remaining gas content of the cylinder, for room temperature storage and for cold-room storage, respectively; and a manual switch at the gage enables the gage to perform, as is appropriate for the particular situation of stored-container temperature. In another form, the second or additional magnetic-reed switch is positioned beneath the scale for operation upon a sensed low level of gas-pressure effectiveness for beverage dispensing.

  • Patent number: 4596452
Abstract: A disc camera for use with a disc film cartridge includes upper and lower camera walls spaced from one another by a distance less than the height of the cartridge housed in a cartridge chamber. The upper wall is formed with an opening which allows a part of the cartridge housed in the cartridge chamber to project therefrom. A frame is formed in the cartridge chamber so as to be fitted with an exposure aperture of the cartridge when a rear cover of the camera is closed. The frame serves to prevent exposure of a film in the cartridge to unwanted light. A covering member which protects the projecting part of the cartridge against impact which might be applied thereto also prevents entry of dust into the cartridge chamber. The opening may be formed on a lower camera wall or on both of the upper and lower camera walls.

  • Patent number: 4596775
Abstract: The present invention relates to a new mutant strain induced from a wild strain of the genus Escherichia, which is active upon a .gamma.-glutamyl-L-cystein synthesizing enzyme system and capable of releasing .gamma.-glutamyl-L-cystein synthetase from inhibition by glutathione. It preferably is Escherichia coli RC 912 (FERM-BP No. 47). The present invention also contemplates the preparation of glutathione by (1) culturing the foregoing strain in a culture medium' or (2) culturing said strain to first accumulate a .gamma.-glutamyl-L-cystein synthesizing enzyme system, and placing the latter into contact with a substrate of L-glutamic acid, L-cysteine and glycerine to form gluthatione by enzymatic reaction.

  • Patent number: 4593642
Abstract: A carrying case for canoe that will hold supplies under watertight conditions, will not be dislodged from the canoe should it be overturned or subject to other violent exterior conditions, and will aid in flotation in subsequent righting, should the canoe be overturned. The case is configured to straddle the center thwart. It is waterproof and airtight. It has a plurality of securing latches which detachably grip the gunnels of the canoe. The cover extends four to five inches above the canoe lip to significantly increase the water displacement should the canoe be overturned, thus improving the flotation characteristics of the canoe and improving the user's ability to right the canoe with a small volume of water remaining within the hull.

  • Patent number: 4591264
Abstract: There is disclosed an automatic exposure control device for use in a reader-printer which controls the amount of exposure in accordance with outputs of photodetectors arranged in an optical path. Each photodetector is connected to a comparator which is supplied with comparison voltage through changes of the comparison voltage stepwise. The control device changes the amount of variation per step of comparison voltage in accordance with a change of the type of film to the positive or to the negative, and limits the photodetectors to be used for controlling only to the photodetectors being capable of receiving the light of micro film image.

  • Patent number: 4591602
Abstract: A novel compound, and stable compositions thereof for the effective, nonirritating treatment of microbial colonization are disclosed. The compound is used for the topical treatment of affected areas as well as for control of certain diarrheas. The compound is the ozonide of the liquid wax jojoba oil. The ozonide material of the present invention has the ability to release nascent oxygen directly to locales to at least inhibit the microorganisms without the characteristic dryness and skin irritation associated with previous benzoyl peroxide treatments. The compositions are stable, in contrast to the limited shelf-stability of the previously used benzoyl peroxide formulation. This ozonide and products containing same have no tendency to become rancid, which is a problem with other ozonides.

  • Patent number: 4582202
Abstract: A method for the sorting of bulk material comprises the feeding of the bulk material into a frusto-conical sorting means. The rotational speed of the sorting means is varied to permit the passage of the bulk material therethrough at the higher speed and the migration of tramp material along the sorting means at the lower speed. Continuously alternating the speeds allows sorting to be done on a continuous basis.
