  • Patent number: 4881909
Abstract: An electrically conductive hose assembly for a vacuum cleaner includes a hose body having a plurality of resilient helical conductive wires and a handle assembly having a projecting hollow end portion received within the hose body. Handle assembly wires are connected to the hose body wires by terminals fitted over the wire ends and crimped thereto, and a shrink wrap insulation is secured therearound. The hollow end portion has outwardly projecting wire termination blocks defining circumferential slots for removably securing the hose body wire end portions adjacent their connection to the handle wires, and the hollow end portion includes a depressed section aligned with that connection. At least one of the hose wires is secured between the hollow end portion and an axially extending resilient arm which is supported from one end in a radially spaced relation from the hollow end portion and has an inwardly extending tab at the other end.

  • Patent number: 4881001
Abstract: In a dynamoelectric machine, a stator assembly is mounted directly in a bore of a housing for surrounding a rotor. The bore has an axially extending slot. The stator assembly includes a plurality of laminations bonded together in a stacked array for circumferentially surrounding the rotor. A given number of the laminations at one end of the stator assembly are radially enlarged to define a tab-like flange for projecting into the slot of the housing to prevent the stator assembly from rotating relative to the housing. Complementary axially abutting shoulders are provided between the stator assembly and the housing to prevent relative rotation therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4880055
Abstract: The problem of providing a lightweight, efficient and compact impingement plate type heat exchanger for exchanging heat between at least two fluids is solved by providing a stack of generally parallel plates (36) which include end plates (38, 48), intermediate impingement orifice plates (98, 99) and intermediate manifold plates (96). Inlets (40, 54) and outlets (50, 42) for the two fluids are provided in the end plates. The impingement orifice plates have orifice areas (110) defining two tortious flow paths (68, 86) generally parallel to each other and generally perpendicularly through the plates for the two fluids. The manifold plates and portions of the impingement orifice plates have slots (102, 106) and openings (112, 114, 118) for distributing the two fluids parallel and perpendicularly through the stack of plates to their respective tortious flow paths. Therefore, all extraneous headers, manifolds and housing components are completely obviated.

  • Patent number: 4880045
Abstract: A window shade assembly including a flexible window shade and a pair of guide tracks adapted to receive and support the window shade. The flexible window shade is sized to cover a window and formed to have a plurality of pleats therein. Each of the pleats is defined by a first fold portion and a second fold portion which together form a double fold. The flexible window shade is also formed to have the pleats substantially from one end to the other end thereof. The pair of guide tracks is adapted to be fixedly mounted to a frame of the window in spaced parallel relation. Each of the guide tracks is mounted to extend generally perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the pleats. The guide tracks also are adapted to be spaced by a distance sufficient for positioning the pleats therebetween. By utilizing spring-biased rollers or non-rotational sliders and loose-fitting slide members, the flexible window shade can be moved in accordianlike fashion.
