Abstract: A pulley assembly having first and second members. The first member is capable of cooperating with a power transmission belt to drive/be driven by the belt. The first member is movable guidingly relative to the second member around a first axis. A coil spring has a length and a circumference and a first portion attached to the first member and a second portion attached to the second member so that a force tending to move the first/second member around the first axis is transmitted through the coil spring to the second/first member. At least one of the first and second members has a groove bounded by a surface into which the respective portion of the coil spring is fit. The respective portion of the coil spring is clamp fit within the groove.
Abstract: A gas jet nozzle 1 is provided that has a relatively simple mechanism capable of jetting high-pressure gas for a long period. The nozzle 1 jets high-pressure gas from a high-pressure gas bottle 12. The nozzle 1 has a jet port 2 for jetting high-pressure gas by communicating with the gas bottle 12. The nozzle 1 further has a jet passage 3 for directing to a target the gas jetted from the jet port 2 and jetting the directed gas from the front end 4 of the passage. The nozzle 1 includes an air suction part 5 for sucking atmospheric air into the gas jetted from the jet port 2.
Abstract: A grit removal unit for a waste water system, including a round grit removal chamber with an input for waste water and an output, a grit storage chamber beneath the grit removal chamber, and an opening between the grit storage chamber and the grit removal chamber. A vertical drive shaft extends through the grit removal chamber into the grit storage chamber, and is rotatable to facilitate waste water flow in the grit removal chamber whereby grit in the waste water is directed toward the opening. A grit size restrictor includes a shear secured to the drive shaft for rotation therewith (the shear including a plate extending radially from the drive shaft above the opening), a first set of bars extending across the opening, and a second set of bars secured to the bottom of the shear plate with the second set of bars positioned adjacent the first set of bars.
Abstract: A drag harness for use with a protective garment for a fire fighter or emergency worker is provided. The protective garment includes an outer shell having a main body portion and at least two limb covering portions. The drag harness includes a wearer loop and at least two gripping portions. A first gripping portion is located at a first limb covering portion while a second gripping portion is located at a second limb covering portion. Each of the gripping portions is located adjacent the outer shell in a non-deployed state and extend away from the outer shell in a deployed state whereby a rescuer can drag a wearer.

Abstract: A closure has a body and a lid is molded with the body. A utensil, such as a scoop or spear, is integrally formed with the closure body, and connected to the closure body via frangible connections. The lid includes a utensil-receiving structure for releasably holding the utensil, once it is initially broken away from the closure body, such that the utensil can be attached to the closure lid for storage.

Abstract: A drag harness comprises two arm loops, each of which has a fixed length and is adapted to receive a separate arm of a wearer, and a pair of gripping loops, each of which has a fixed length. The gripping loops are joined to the arm loops.
Abstract: The correction of errors in the transport and processing of qubits makes use of logical qubits made up of a plurality of physical qubits. The process takes place on a spatial array of physical qubit sites arranged with a quasi-2-dimensional topology having a first line of physical qubit sites and second line of physical qubit sites, where the first and second lines are arranged in parallel, with the sites of the first line in registration with corresponding sites in the second line. Between the first and second lines of physical qubit sites are a plurality of logic function gates, each comprised of a first physical qubit gate site associated with a first physical qubit site in the first line, and a second physical qubit gate site associated with the physical qubit site in the second line that corresponds to the first physical qubit site.
Abstract: The combination of: a scaffold assembly comprising a vertical member; a baseplate on the vertical member and having a downwardly facing surface; and a foot having a top surface and a bottom surface spaced in an axial direction. The foot has an opening in the top surface and a recess extending axially from the opening toward the bottom surface. The recess accepts the baseplate with the baseplate in an operative position. The downwardly facing surface bears on the foot so as to cause a downward force produced by the vertical member to be applied to the foot and distributed by the foot through the bottom surface to an underlying support surface for the scaffold assembly. The bottom surface on the foot has a peripheral edge that bounds an area that is greater than an area bounded by a peripheral edge of the baseplate.
Abstract: A positive orientation container and closure combination is provided. The container includes at least one flange segment having a front and a back face. The container further includes a gap defined by the front face of one of the flange segments and the back face of one of the flange segments. The closure includes a plurality of collar segments. The closure includes at least one collar segment having an engagement face to establish a positive orientation of the closure at a predetermined position.
Abstract: A middle ear prosthesis comprises a body of deformable material capable of retaining different shapes. The body comprises a slotted wall defining a cavity for receiving a bone of the middle ear. The wall is deformable proximate slots in the wall between an open position for receiving the bone and a closed position wherein the body is reshaped to grasp the bone.

Abstract: A method of preparing a patient's one leg, that is in need of treatment, for ambulation. The method includes the steps of: applying an external fixation assembly, having at least one external frame component, by pinning the at least one external frame component to at least one of the patient's bones in the patient's one leg so as to prepare the patient's one leg for healing; providing a foot assembly with a sole assembly defining a bearing surface and a connecting assembly; and operatively joining the foot assembly to the patient's one leg, whereby the patient can walk in a manner whereupon weight of the patient's body is applied by a patient's one foot, that is part of the user's one leg, to the sole assembly and therethrough to and against an underlying surface during ambulation.
Abstract: A fosfomycin plus tobramycin combination formulation for delivery by aerosolization is described. The concentrated fosfomycin tobramycin combination formulation containing an efficacious amount of fosfomycin plus tobramycin is able to inhibit susceptible bacteria. Fosfomycin and tobramycin are formulated separately in a dual ampoule such that when reconstituted, the pH is between 4.5 and 8.0 or as a dry powder. The method for treatment of respiratory tract infections by a formulation delivered as an aerosol having a mass median aerodynamic diameter predominantly between 1 to 5?, produced by a jet or ultrasonic nebulizer (or equivalent) or dry powder inhaler.
Abstract: Disintegrin variants and pharmaceutical uses thereof are disclosed. The disintegrin variant includes an isolated polypeptide that has integrin ?v?3 receptor-antagonist activity and substantially reduced integrin ?llb?3 and/or ?5?1 receptor-blocking activity as compared to a wild-type disintegrin. The variant is encoded by a modified disintegrin nucleotide sequence that encodes a modified amino acid sequence, resulting in a polypeptide having substantially reduced affinity to integrin ?llb?3 and/or ?5?1 as compared to a wild-type disintegrin. The variant is useful for treatment and/or prevention of ?v?3 integrin-associated diseases in a mammal, which include osteoporosis, bone tumor or cancer growth, angiogenesis-related tumor growth and metastasis, tumor metastasis in bone, malignancy-induced hypercalcemia, angiogenesis-related eye diseases, Paget's disease, rheumatic arthritis, and osteoarthritis.
