Abstract: A kit having: a border assembly with a plurality of elongate elements that are capable of being placed against a subjacent surface to define a border around a predetermined area within which a frozen surface is to be formed; and a flexible liner that is selectively reconfigurable between a) a collapsed state and b) an operative state. The elongate elements each have an inside surface, a top edge, and an outside surface. The flexible liner has a shape and size preselected to cover a subjacent surface in the predetermined area and to be placed against the elongate elements in a predetermined manner so as to define a receptacle for a liquid that can be cooled to form a frozen surface over the predetermined area.
Abstract: High inertia and large bearing loads encountered in monorotors for gas turbine engines are reduced in a monorotor having a compressor wheel section (10) made of a relatively low density material while the turbine wheel section (12) maintains resistance to heat by being made of a relatively higher density, heat resistant material. The two are joined into a monorotor through the use of two bodies (24,38) which are inertia welded to the respective wheels (10,12) and then welded together by any one of a variety of welding processes.

Abstract: A system and method for setting up an applicator to treat a target blank traveling on a conveyor includes placing a mark on an example blank, where the mark represents a desired location for treatment of the target blank. The marked example blank is passed along the conveyor, and the location of the mark is sensed on the example blank. The applicator is programmed to treat the target blank at the sensed location. Further, a method and system for regulating an applicator for treating a desired location of a target blank traveling along a conveyor include passing the target blank along the conveyor and sensing an applied location of the treatment to the target blank. The applied location is compared with the desired location and responsive to the comparing, the applicator is adjusted to apply the treatment closer to the desired location.

Abstract: A radio communication device including a housing and a flip that is rotatably connected to the housing by a hinge means. The housing contains electrical components on a printed circuit board. The flip contains electrical devices including an antenna and a microphone. A coupling is contained in the hinge means between the housing and the flip which electrically and mechanically couples the housing to the flip. The electrical components in the flip are connected to the printed circuit board through the coupling. The coupling includes a receptacle that is fixed relative to the housing and a header electrically and mechanically coupled to the receptacle. A bearing circumscribes the header and is able to rotate freely around the header. The bearing is held in place around the header by a bearing retainer. The bearing is fixedly attached to the flip and allows the flip to rotate around the coupling while the coupling remains fixed relative to the housing, allowing the coupling to act as an axle mechanism.
Abstract: A mechanical end face seal includes one seal ring having two elements, a seal face extension portion immediately adjacent a sealing face and a seal ring body removed from the sealing face. Each of the ring elements has a radial outer diameter dimension and a radial inner dimension. The seal face extension portion is defined by an annular gap separating the seal ring body from the seal face extension portion. The annular gap opens out onto the high-pressure side of the seal. The axial thickness of the seal face extension portion is much smaller than the radial dimension of the sealing face. The seal face extension portion is connected to the thicker seal ring body by means of a thin connecting “neck”, which has a small radial dimension than the radial dimension of the sealing face. Preferably, the radial dimension of the neck has a ratio relative to the radial width of the ring sealing face between about 0.10 to about 0.70, more preferably about 0.25 to about 0.60, and most preferably about 0.
