  • Patent number: 6857667
Abstract: A fluid quick connect includes a body having a conical, split end retainer slidably mounted in a recess in at least one end of the body. The retainer has a leading edge extending into a through bore in the body which is engagable with an annular flange on an endform inserted into the housing forcing the retainer angularly outward in the recess to allow passage of the annular flange of the endform past the retainer. A biasing force on the retainer due to the expansion of the diameter of the retainer moves the retainer back to a position in which the leading edge extends behind the trailing edge of the annular flange on the endform to latch the endform in the housing. The retainer and conical recess maybe used at one end of the housing for connection with one end form or at both ends of the housing to fluidically couple two end forms.

  • Patent number: 6859792
Abstract: A license management method specifies a predetermined number of assigned units for each of a plurality of individually selectable programs in a product suite. A discrete node running total equals the assigned units of the highest assigned units program running on each node. Each node can run additional programs where the assigned units of the additional programs are equal to or less than the node running total without changing the node running total. Termination of the highest assigned units program on a node causes the difference between the assigned units of the terminated program and the next highest assigned units of a program running by the node to be re-added to the available units.

  • Patent number: 6855017
Abstract: Power train for an amphibious vehicle has an engine aligned with vehicle axis. The crankshaft drives optional flexible coupling, shaft, and optional decoupler. Drive shaft drives marine propulsion means, which may be a water jet drive or a screw propeller. Shaft also drives bevel gear, which drives transmission through bevel gear and input shaft. Hence, transmission is mounted transversely, and perpendicular to the engine. The bevel gears, coupling and decoupler are contained in a casing. Transmission drives road wheels through integral differential, drive shafts, and relay shaft. Transmission may be manual, sequential change manual, automated manual, automatic, or continuously variable transmission. The engine may be offset to the vehicle center line.

  • Patent number: 6856844
Abstract: An assembly line data communication system using wireless transmission between access point transceivers along a plant data network and a mobile transceiver temporarily physically associated with each product proceeding down an assembly line served by the network. The unique identity of the product is communicated to the assembly line network controller at the entry end of each series of work cells and correct product order in a queue is maintained so that the specific identity and specification of the product is known at each of several subsequent and serially arranged work cells through which the product passes. Each work cell can talk to one or more access point transceivers in the network to communicate data to the mobile transceiver on the vehicle and to receive information back from it.

  • Patent number: 6853110
Abstract: The invention pertains to electrical machines of the electromagnetic type employing a stator and a rotatable such as electrical motors and generators, wherein magnetic forces imposed upon the rotor produce rotor rotation. Permanent magnets in either the stator or the rotor assembly are used to control the magnetic flux flow through the rotor in a radial direction, and the construction of the rotor and stator utilize poles which control the forces imposed upon the rotor such that the magnetic forces on the rotor primarily drive the rotor in its working direction, and counter-rotative forces which are common with conventional electrical machines are substantially eliminated by the utilization of flux directional control. Flux movement through the rotor is in a radial direction and high efficiencies and motor control are achieved.

  • Patent number: 6845976
Abstract: The invention is a pallet pin which contains an integral floating magnet assembly. The floating magnet assembly is mounted within the internal cavity of the pin and is attached to a longitudinally extending member which is located within the interior space of the fanner housing. The floating magnet assembly is provided with low-friction rollers which engage the longitudinally extending member. The magnet assembly is thereby permitted to traverse freely the length of the interior of the housing of the device, permitting the permanent magnet assembly to automatically reposition itself in relation to an adjoining sheet of magnetic material, and to induce the upper sheets of a stack of magnetic materials to separate. The entire assembly is mounted within a housing having a handle, and one or more locating holes for the purpose of positioning the entire assembly in relation to a pallet on which sheets of magnetic material may be stored.

  • Patent number: 6847488
Abstract: A flat-panel projection display comprises a transparent slab and integral area grating, a transparent rod with rectangular cross-section and integral linear grating, arranged along the edge of the slab, and a small video projector. The projector is arranged to direct a virtual image into the end of the rod, directly or via mirrors, the light travelling along the rod via total internal reflection. The linear grating diverts the light into the plane of the slab, and the area grating projects it out of the slab towards a viewer, so that the viewer sees an image at infinity.
