  • Patent number: 4493622
Abstract: A hydraulic motor which varies its displacement in accordance with varying torque loads on its output shaft. The motor is biased to a low displacement, low torque, high speed mode, and changes to a high displacement, high torque, low speed mode when the torque load on its output shaft increases. The motor has eccentrically disposed gerotor gears that rotate and orbit relative to each other to expand and contract fluid chambers on opposite sides of a center line of eccentricity. The gerotor gears can change their orientation relative to each other in response to changes in the torque load on the output shaft, changed, in order to change the displacement of the motor.

  • Patent number: 4489755
Abstract: A power assisted steering gear has an internal valve member 10 capable of restricted rotation in response to a steering input relative to a valve sleeve 11 rotatable with a pinion 4 driving a rack bar 3. The valve sleeve 11 is rotatable in a cylinder 9 of a valve housing 2 and has an annular recess 25 in an external annular face 12. Recess 25 provides a fluid pressure conduit from an input port 26 and fluid flow is controlled by control ports 13, 14 between the valve members 10 and 11 in response to restricted relative rotation between those members. At axially opposite ends of the annular face 12 the valve sleeve 11 forms alternating pressure chambers 35, 36 communicating with ports in the housing 2 for connection to a power assistance ram. Chambers 35 and 36 communicate through passages 39 and 44 with the control ports 13, 14 to control fluid flow to and from the power assistance ram as directed in response to a steering input.

  • Patent number: 4488569
Abstract: A fluid flow control system includes a priority valve which is controlled by a pressure differential applied across the valve, and which directs priority flow to a steering circuit and excess flow to an auxiliary circuit. The system insures that during steering, a relatively high pressure differential is required to shift the priority valve away from a priority steering position in which all fluid flow is delivered to the steering circuit. It also insures that when the flow to the steering circuit is sufficient to satisfy the steering demand, and the valve is also directing flow to the auxiliary circuit, a lower pressure differential is required to shift the valve in a direction for increasing the flow to the auxiliary circuit.

  • Patent number: 4487225
Abstract: A power assisted steering gear has an internal valve member 10 capable of restricted rotation (in response to a steering input) relative to a valve sleeve 11 integral with a pinion 4 driving a rack bar 3. Control ports 13, 14 between the valve members 10 and 11 are adjusted in response to relative rotation between those members to control fluid flow to power assistance means. The valve members are rotationally biased relative to each other and to a neutral condition of the control ports by a C-shaped spring 21. The valve sleeve 11 and pinion 4 are axially restrained by a bearing 5. The valve member 10 is axially restrained by a compact arrangement of a rod 27 located in a co-axial bore 27a of the valve member 10 and secured by pin 21 for rotation with that valve member and carried by bearings 28 for rotation in the pinion 4. Bearing 28 restrains the rod 27 from axial displacement relative to the pinion.

  • Patent number: 4488029
Abstract: In electro-erosive machining apparatuses with multidimensional relative motion between a tool-electrode and a workpiece electrode, a simple and adaptable control is provided for these relative operating movements, with a superimposed shaping-limiting control and subordinated cyclic repetitive oblique erosion. In this connection, the tool-feed is limited, within individual oblique-erosion cycles, by achieving a predetermined shaping envelope-surface. The apparatus comprises two separate coordinating-function-transmitters by means of which two operating movements, at an angle to each other, are each determinable according to a resultant relative operating movement between the tool and the workpiece, one being used for shaping-limiting control and the other for oblique erosion. Initiation of the consecutive oblique-erosion cycles is effected by means of a repetition-circuit as a function of a rated-value/actual-value approximation of the shaping-limiting control.

  • Patent number: 4485985
Abstract: Belt strap-clamping device for safety belts in motor vehicles which has a roll-up device with a belt strap which is rolled-up on a belt drum, and which can be rolled out against a spring-force. The belt from the roll-up device is partially wrapped around a deflection member with an arched deflection surface, hinged around an axis, and arranged after the belt drum. The belt strap works in conjunction with a clamping surface which is fixed in the fitting, such that the deflection member is moved when an increased force is applied, and the belt strap is clamped between the clamping surface and the deflection member. At a normal pulling out of the belt the deflection member is held at a distance from the clamping surface by the force of a spring. The deflection surface is formed by a sleeve-like deflection member, which is during normal operation freely rotatable on an eccentrically supported roller, which can be displaced on a predetermined angular path in relation to a clamping surface.

  • Patent number: 4485288
Abstract: In swinging wire guides for generally conical finishing surfaces, the problem exists of a reliable automatic coaxial setting of the guide axes according to the particular angular position of the wire electrode in the workpiece finishing zone.As a solution, the wire guides (DF1, DF2) supported swinging on the support elements (TO1, TO2) are joined together by a coupling device, which has a guide member (FG) joined correspondingly with the support elements. The latter is set by the relative movement of the wire guides (DF1, DF2) to the desired angular position of the wire guides according to the ideal wire guide axis (D--D). Through swinging coupling gears (SK1, SK2) the angle position of the guide member (FG) is transmitted to the wire guides (DF1, DF2).

  • Patent number: 4485335
Abstract: There is disclosed herein a dynamic focusing circuit for the minor deflection circuit, hereinafter referred to as to the vertical deflection circuit, for a cathode ray tube to compensate for defocusing characteristics thereof. Such a cathode ray tube employes a major deflection circuit, hereinafter referred to as the horizontal deflection circuit, for deflecting the beam along a horizontal axis at a relatively high raster scan frequency, such as on the order of 28 KHz. Additionally, such a cathode ray tube has associated therewith a minor deflection circuit for deflecting the beam along the vertical axis at a second substantially lower scan frequency and which may be on the order of 50 Hz. A focusing circuit normally receives a steady state DC focusing signal for focusing the beam as it is scanned along the respective horizontal and vertical axes.

  • Patent number: 4483404
Abstract: A scale includes a movable platform which is supported by a plurality of improved force transmitting assemblies. Upon sideways movement of the platform, the force transmitting assemblies and platform interact to align the force transmitting assemblies and to center the platform. Each force transmitting assembly includes a slider which is movable along a base surface. A rocker pin transmits force between the slider and a load cell beam which is connected with the platform. When the platform is moved sideways relative to the base, the rocker pin is tilted to a maximum offset position in which horizontally offset vertical force components are applied to the rocker pin. In accordance with the present invention, stop surfaces on the slider and load cell beam are disposed in abutting engagement when the rocker pin is in a maximum offset position.

  • Patent number: 4479643
Abstract: Bottom opening pockets in a newspaper stuffing machine sequentially move newspapers to a transfer station at a first speed with closed edge portions of the newspapers downward and major sides of the newspapers on which headlines are printed facing in the direction of movement of the pockets. The pockets are sequentially opened and the closed or folded edge portion of each of the newspapers in turn moves into engagement with a receiving conveyor. The receiving conveyor accelerates the closed edge portion of a newspaper while the open or cut edge portion of the newspaper remains in a pocket and travels at a slower speed. This results in deflecting or bending of the newspaper. As the closed or folded edge portion of the newspaper is accelerated, the paper is moved into an underlapped relationship with an immediately preceding newspaper. The underlapped newspapers are moved into an overlapped relationship by an inverter.
