  • Patent number: 4580757
Abstract: Apparatus for making a molded plastic roller with embedded bearings. The roller is formed directly on a bearing or the like by injecting plastic into a mold by way of an umbrella sprue. The tool parts are arranged so that the shearing surface, formed after shearing off of the sprue residue when the mold is opened, is located on the outer surface of the inner collar portion. The molding tool comprises two tool parts for forming the outer surfaces of the rolling body, at least one tool part having a molding portion for forming an annular recess in the roller, and a cylindrical tool part inserted in the bearing, or the like and having a mushroom-shaped head. A back taper of the molding portion for forming the annular recess and the edge of the head together define an annular clearance through which plastic material is injected.

  • Patent number: 4572591
Abstract: A ball bearing arrangement for longitudinal movement on a shaft or the like comprising a sleeve-shaped cage having a plurality of outwardly directed, axially aligned recesses, in each of which a raceway plate is inserted. Each raceway plate has a closed raceway formed thereon. An endless row of balls is arranged between each raceway plate and the cage. The cage has a plurality of guideways connecting the recesses with the cage bore and guiding the load-bearing balls. The angular distances between the load-bearing balls of adjacent endless rows are unequal. The raceway plates are interchangeable. Therefore, in the construction of each variation only a new cage need be provided.

  • Patent number: 4570773
Abstract: In an antifriction-bearing throwout, particularly for automotive clutches, a clutch bearing with a non-rotating bearing-ring abuts in a radially slidable manner against a thrust plate of a sliding sleeve and is held in the centered position. To facilitate centering of the clutch bearing in relation to the tongue ends of the clutch diaphragm-spring, and to prevent slip-through of the clutch bearing in the case of shock as by hard road-bumps, the non-rotating bearing-ring is arranged in a manner such that, overcoming a radially-acting friction force in relation to sliding sleeve, it can tilt in a circumferential direction, within certain limits, and can slide in a radial direction along two guide-surfaces that run parallel to one another.

  • Patent number: 4571222
Abstract: A tension roller with a supporting member, pivoted on a pivot stud against the force of a tension spring, and rotatably supported in a roller sleeve by a bearing. The supporting member has a cylindrical interior space, limited by side walls, containing the tension spring. The side walls have bores for the pivot studs and recesses for formation of the stopping faces, against which the free ends of the tension spring abut in order to limit the angle of rotation of the tension roller. The member is made of synthetic material, using injection molding techniques. In order to produce this supporting member in an economical manner, additional recesses permitting insertion of a forming tool consisting of two halves are provided in the side walls of the member.

  • Patent number: 4569620
Abstract: In apparatus for manufacturing and packaging bound books a turnover device is provided for turning over alternate books fed by a conveyor from a building-in machine and leading to a stacking device where such books are accumulated in stacks and delivered for packaging. The turnover device lifts alternate books from the consecutive line of books on an in-feed conveyor, turns the lifted books 180.degree., and replaces them in the spaces left vacant when the books were lifted. The conveyor system then transports these books positioned in alternate orientation, such that when they are stacked, their spines or backbones are on alternate sides of the stack which renders each stack less high, more stable and compact and easier to handle in subsequent packaging and shipping operations. The turnover device comprises a pair of continuous belts about rotating drums where each belt is twisted through 180.degree.

  • Patent number: 4568182
Abstract: In an optical digitizer, a cursor is movable on a plane surface having coordinate axis. The cursor includes a source of light that is scanned across the coordinate system, and a detector receiving light from the angle to which the beam is instantaneously directed. The coordinate system has curved mirrors at the origin and point spaced from the origin along the axis thereof, and plane mirrors extending along the axis. A calculator determines the position of the cursor in the coordinate system by triangulation. Alternatively, the cursor may be a curved mirror, with rotating light sources and detectors positioned at determined points in the coordinate system.

  • Patent number: 4567976
Abstract: A clutch release, in particular for an automobile clutch, comprising a sliding sleeve, a clutch release bearing, and a spring ring for enabling self-centering of the bearing. The thrust plate of the sliding sleeve is provided with a plurality of circumferentially distributed flexible projections of L-shaped profile which engage the contact flange of the nonrotating bearing ring such that the nonrotating bearing ring radially slidably abuts the thrust plate. The thrust plate is provided with throughholes arranged underneath the respective projections in order to facilitate the elastic yielding of the projections during the operation of snapping them on the contact flange. The flexible projections fix the axially position of the nonrotating bearing ring while allowing radial play.

  • Patent number: 4565477
Abstract: A method for bookbinding on a continuously-moving, constant-speed conveyer belt operation with the case or back-strip being centrally located on the axis of motion. As the case is formed between opposing rotary irons, glue or paste is then applied to the upper insides of both sides of the case. A book block is next dropped on one side of the case, the book block is aligned to register with the case; and the other side of the case is folded over to fasten to the upper side of the book block to form the book and prepare it for pressing and crimping of the building-in operation, without any interruption of the motion of the book along the conveyer system.

  • Patent number: 4560291
Abstract: A cage for ball bearings consists of two side rings connected together by webs, and having ball pockets with ball pockets having curved partial surfaces inside and outside of the pitch circle and displaced from one another in the axial direction. In this arrangement the rubbing between the walls of the cage pockets and the balls is very small and free space is provided for receiving a lubricant. The pocket walls of the cage sections lying in the region of one or the other of the side rings has several radially-overlying zones, with conical surfaces, the conical surfaces being arranged at different inclinations to the bearing axis.

  • Patent number: 4560197
Abstract: For the purpose of preventing a vehicle sliding door from falling off, a stopper member is fixedly secured to the vehicle body and a coacting surface is provided on a bracket mounted on the vehicle door. As guide rollers of the vehicle sliding door tilt under an external force applied to the vehicle door, the stopper member engages with the coacting surface and prevents the rollers from derailment. Since the stopper member extends laterally, it is effective for preventing the sliding door from falling off even when the sliding door is deformed.
