Abstract: A multiband infrared imaging intensifier device which includes an infrared radiation transmitting lens, for transmitting infrared radiation from an object scene onto a quantum ferroelectric copolymer detector with a chopper between them, with the detector responsive to the infrared detection to generate signal electrons which are pulled off and accelerated by an electric field onto a phosphor surface which produces photons to provide an image.
Abstract: Optical fiber combinations, connected to a lighter than air balloon, which includes a tether having one or more lengths of optical fibers, and can include a string, which optical fibers have an outer protective jacket or cladding to prevent light from escaping therefrom, with portions of the jacket or cladding removed at selected locations along their lengths to permit light patterns to be emitted therefrom, upon shining of a light source into the ends of the fibers.

Abstract: Apparatus for shredding or pulling pieces of meat, which includes a feed hopper carried on a body, a removable shredder roller assembly in the body for shredding the meat, which includes a shredder roller, and a backer plate, which can be adjusted to vary the texture of the shredder meat product, and an electric motor to rotate the shredder roller.
Abstract: A gas sensor apparatus for detecting the presence of selected or target gases which has a Quantum Ferroelectric Copolymer sensing element, which is bombarded with infrared radiation and in the presence of a target gas provides an electrical output dependent upon the infrared absorption band of the target gas.

Abstract: A hybrid rechargeable lithium battery, which includes a plurality of high power rechargeable cells, having nano-particles therein, and high energy density rechargeable cells, with the high energy cells recharging the high power cells. The battery preferably includes a low volt parallel charger to simultaneously and individually charge both the high power and high energy cells, through a protective device. All cells are then discharged in series at high voltage, and are individually protected from over discharge. A rechargeable battery having both high power and high energy density cells is thus provided.
Abstract: A synthesizer is disclosed and is digitally tuned and locked in a measured frequency. The synthesizer uses both the dual voltage control oscillator, each operating over less than an octave, in combination with the microwave doublers to produce a multi-octave RF output with low having low harmonics and free of spurious output signals thereon. The synthesizer uses a sampling downconverter that would, without the benefits of the present invention, produce an ambiguous IF output signal that is translated from the VCO microwave frequency. The ambiguity of the sampling downconverter is corrected by using in-phase and quadrature components of the IF output signal produced by the downconverter along with an Arc Tan to generate a series of digital phase data that is compared against a known reference to eliminate the ambiguity of the VCO frequency. The synthesizer further uses at least one clocking source having an output that is selectively filtered to avoid singularity problems normally plaguing downconverters.
Abstract: A pleated skirt is disclosed which includes a waistband assembly having a rear segment and two front segments, and a composite pleated skirt assembly having front, side, and rear pleats attached to the waistband assembly, an adjustable pleat at each side of the skirt to accommodate different wearer sizes, an inner front panel connected to a front segment of the waistband assembly, and an outer front panel connected to another front segment of the waistband assembly, snaps connected to the front panels to detachably connect them together, for attachment and detachment of the kilt from a wearer. The front inner panel has front pleats that step down incrementally, the front pleats and front inner panel are sewn together to create a funnel shape, and the outer panel has a plurality of stepped pleats. A plurality of hooks and loops of a cord are engageable with a rear pleat and the front panels for pulling the kilt together to provide a modesty system.
Abstract: A portable ultraviolet water purifier is disclosed which has an outer housing defining a water chamber with a coupling for attachment to a faucet an inlet and an outlet with an ultraviolet light source therein.
Abstract: A single use applicator for dispensing and applying a thin layer of viscous fluid, comprising an outer body of chemically inert deformable material open at one end, a crushable glass ampoule therein containing fluid to be dispensed and applied, and an application element of synthetic fiber strands in said tube, wherein fluids flows by capillary action, with an internal reservoir inside the tube adjacent the ampoule, a fluid control valve welded to the tube at its approximate mid point, to control fluid flow, and an external tip to apply the fluid to an application surface.
Abstract: Fluid cooled diaphragms for diaphragm compressors are provided which utilize a multi-layer diaphragm with an upper or gas contacting later, and a bottom or lower layer, which has cooling grooves through which cooling fluid is circulated to reduce the diaphragm temperature. Additionally the upper surface of the diaphragm may be subjected to high loading to indent the surface and produce grooves for gas escape passageways. The gas contacting and grooved layer can be joined over part of the entire surface, or the grooved layer not connected to the other layer. Two or more layers may be used as required.
Abstract: An applicator for dispensing liquids including an outer tube (11) with at least one layer (39) of impervious plastic thereon, which has a crushable ampoule (20) therein containing the liquid to be dispensed. The outer tube is closed at one end and open at the other with an applicator tip (15) of porous foam thereon. A slide ring activator tool (25) of L-shape is carried on the tube and is rotated to break the ampoule and allow the liquid to flow through the tube to the applicator tip from which it is applied to a surface. The tool has forks (36) that may be moved to extend along each side of the tip to act as a guide for the applicator.
Abstract: The Electronic Support Measure (ESM) system is disclosed having various embodiments all of which reduce or even eliminate the detrimental effects caused by interference signals commonly generated by CW emitters.
