Abstract: A process wastewater treatment plant, and a process relating thereto, which converts process wastewater generated in battery manufacturing and the like into clean process water and sodium sulfate salt by treating the process wastewater to remove impurities and contaminants, including debris, oil/grease, heavy metal oxides, lead and other heavy metals, suspended solids, bacteria, organic compounds, and/or gases, from the wastewater to obtain a clean neutral sodium sulfate brine, subjecting the brine to heat to obtain distilled water and sodium sulfate salt, and purifying the distilled water by reverse osmosis for reuse as clear process water.
Abstract: A Christmas tree stand for mounting and displaying a Christmas tree, which in one embodiment includes a cylindrical base, a bucket for engagement with the trunk of a tree with slots therein, which bucket is carried in the base, a top cover on the tree trunk, a reservoir base integral with the cylindrical base, a water pan engaged with the base, a water reservoir detachably engaged with an extension of the water pan to supply water thereto, and hold down latches on the base detachably engaged with the top cover to retain the bucket in the base, and for the other embodiment the base directly captures and retains the tree trunk without using the bucket.
Abstract: A reservoir tank for use with an apparatus to provide liquid thereto, which includes a cylindrical tank open at one end with an end cap removably engaged therewith, which has a spring urged arm with a stem and stopper which normally closes off an opening in the cap, the arm is depressed to allow liquid to enter the tank for filling, and the arm is engaged by an upstanding pin from the apparatus when the tank is inverted and placed in the liquid receiving portion to allow liquid to flow out to fill the apparatus.
Abstract: A universal focal plane DEWAR assembly for cryogenic cooling of an infrared detector DEWAR, which includes an infrared transmissive window attached to a hollow support cylinder under vacuum conditions, with a glass bore in the cylinder, which contains focal plane infrared structure inside of a cold shield, which is attached to a cold plate, with a cold button in contact therewith, and with a cold finger from a cryogenically cooled expander, which is spring mounted in the glass bore for removal and replacement without disturbing the focal plane structure.
Abstract: Composite layered solid or semi-solid state polymeric electrolytes which contain at least a first layer which is a tough, mechanically strong adhesive layer which is non-reactive with alkali metal and preferably polyalkylene oxide based such as PEO, which is applied to an anode, and a second layer applied to a cathode which is a moist, adhesive layer which may be reactive with alkali metal, is loaded with aprotic liquids and alkali metal salts which activates the first layer and maintains the cell integrity.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of making a die set for the manufacture of specially shaped ceramic tile, and the tiles formed thereby. A main component of the die set is a lower punch made of rigid material, on whose upper surface a profile is cut which is suitably shaped to form the front face of the ceramic tile, including the contoured side. The punch has a complete, continuous coating of synthetic resin or rubber bonded to it, with the punch's upper surface defining the form of the front face of the ceramic tile. The coating is continuous and covers the lateral portion of the profile that forms the shaped side, and continues on the upper most part with a horizontal edge which is turned externally with respect to the profile, upon the upper lateral surface of the body of the punch; furthermore a rigid body is fixed above the upper lateral surface, which acts to clamps the horizontal extension of the coating against the lateral surface.
Abstract: An arrangement for accurately measuring the frequency of an RF signal is disclosed. The arrangement includes a coaxial delay line carrying the RF signal and a means for directly measuring the resistance of the coaxial delay line and which resistance measurement is directly correlatable to temperature changes of the coaxial delay line. The arrangement, in response to the changes in the temperature of the coaxial delay line, provides appropriate signals to compensate for the temperature changes in order to prevent any temperature changes from degrading the accuracy of the frequency measured by the arrangement.
Abstract: A shopping cart scanning system is disclosed comprised of first and second photoelectric devices situated in a check-out counter and respectively located at the entrance and exit portion of a scanning field. The photoelectric devices both operate in a retro-reflective mode and operatively cooperate with a reflective strip that is attached to the shopping cart. The photoelectric device, and their associated circuits, are arranged to detect the presence or absence of packages in the lower tray of the shopping cart as the shopping cart moves through a check-out counter.
Abstract: A filter device for use when smoking cigarettes, which safely carries a lit cigarette therein, allows the smoker to inhale smoke from the cigarette and then either to exhale the smoke into the air or back into the device, which captures the smoke and prevents it from escape into the air.
