  • Patent number: 5720842
Abstract: Panel construction for forming upholstery panels for use in automotive vehicles and the like, where a plastic substrate which has been formed to a desired configuration, is placed over a grounded metal horn, a layer of adhesive fabric is placed over the substrate, a layer of heat bondable foam is placed over the adhesive fabric, a cover layer is placed over the foam, heat seal punches connected to the positive output of a source of electrical energy are selectively brought in horizontally on all sides of the panel perimeter to successively compress the cover and foam against the sides of the substrate. Electrical energy is applied to the heat seal punches when in selective engaged position to melt the adhesive and the foam, and fasten the cover to the substrate. The punches are withdrawn and the completed panel is removed from the horn.

  • Patent number: 5714177
Abstract: The invention relates to a die set for the manufacture of specially shaped ceramic tile. A main component of the die set is a lower punch made of rigid material, on whose upper surface a profile is cut which is suitably shaped to form the front face of the ceramic tile, including the contoured side. The punch has a complete, continuous coating of synthetic resin or rubber bonded to it, with the punch's upper surface defining the form of the front face of the ceramic tile. The coating is continuous and covers the lateral portion of the profile that forms the shaped side, and continues on the upper most part with a horizontal edge which is turned externally with respect to the profile, upon the upper lateral surface of the body of the punch; furthermore a rigid body is fixed above the upper lateral surface, which acts to clamps the horizontal extension of the coating against the lateral surface.

  • Patent number: 5651911
Abstract: A removable insert for forming a recess in wet concrete which locates a pulling iron or anchor in wet concrete, and when the concrete hardens the insert is removed, and the anchor may be engaged by a hook and cable to move the resultant concrete structure. The insert, which may be placed at any desired location in the concrete structure, is of a resilient, molded elastomeric material with a central opening to engage the pulling iron or anchor, with a slot therein, which is closed or shaped and which may have a V-shaped removable wedge in the slot. The insert is molded with a flat top with sloping sides, extending downwardly therefrom to a semicircular bottom surface, with threaded inserts in the top which have bolts inserted therein for fastening the insert to a plate and for squeezing to open the slot to permit withdrawal of the insert from the pulling iron or anchor, and which provides a recess, which contains the anchor.

  • Patent number: 5650243
Abstract: Battery packaging construction of flexible plastic barrier structures which are useful for battery cells or battery packs, to protect the active battery components from outside contamination. One or more battery cells or packs are packaged between multi-layered barrier structures which may be extruded or laminated construction, are joined by heat sealing, and each include at least a first layer which is a sealant layer, a second layer which is a water vapor barrier layer, a third layer which is an oxygen barrier layer, and an outside layer, which can be one of the above layers, or a separate layer to provide increased mechanical strength to the package.

  • Patent number: 5590671
Abstract: A mobile battery cleaning system to clean industrial batteries on site which can be transported on a truck, which includes a wash cabinet into which the batteries are placed to be high pressure washed by clean water from a holding tank. The washwater is pumped into a reaction tank where it is agitated and chemically treated for sulfates and for ph. A quantity of dry powdered bentonite clay particles with polyelectrolyte and ph adjusters, with a liquid chemical agent is added while the mixture is agitated. Clarification is checked, the contaminants from the batteries are encapsulated and fixed into large "floc" particles which separate from the water. If the system is to be transported to another site, the water may be drained from the reaction tank through cloth filter bags in a collection tank, which extracts the "floc" which is dried and then placed into a drum for storage until the system is returned to its point of origin. The treated water is returned to the holding tank for reuse.
