Abstract: A multilayer antenna is provided, which includes a power supply portion generating a wave, a radiating portion, and a guide portion that makes it possible to guide the wave from the power supply portion to the radiating portion. The guide portion includes: at least two stacked guide layers having parallel planes and, for each pair of adjacent layers, a transition between the adjacent layers, including a reflector engaging with a slot-coupling. For at least one pair of adjacent layers, for which the guide portion includes a non-planar reflector, the slot-coupling includes a plurality of slots. Each slot includes a main body that is elongate along at least one axis. The slots are placed on at least one row and together form a pattern that extends along the reflector and has a shape that is dependent on the shape of the reflector.

Abstract: A mechanism for an office chair having a backrest support which may be pivoted rearwardly. Adjustment of the backrest pivotal motion is accomplished by the mechanism having a base support which may be positioned on a chair column, a seat support, the backrest support which may be pivoted to the rear, and a pre-tensioned spring arrangement for enabling the mechanism to counter or oppose the movement of the backrest support. The seat support and the base support form a movable unit, which may be moved relative to the chair column depending on the weight of a user applying a load to the seat support. Movement of the movable unit causes an adjustment of the pre-tension of the spring arrangement and/or an adjustment of the spring constant of the spring arrangement.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus of the present invention is used for the high-rate deposition of materials, such as carbon, silicon, metals, metal oxides, and the like, onto a metal substrate defined by a metal tape. The particles of the material are mixed with fluid and are injected against the metal tape at high pressure and high velocity. The particles of the material form a current collection surface of the metal tape. The metal tape is used as cathode or anode combined with a separator to form a fuel cell of a secondary battery, metal-ceramic membranes, film composite metal-ceramic materials for electronic devices.

Abstract: A system includes a broadcast overlay network including a ring topology. The ring topology includes a first network ring and a second network ring that is coupled to the first network ring via at least one cross-connect element. The ring topology is adapted to carry broadcast traffic from a network. The system also includes a digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM) having a line interface and a network interface. The network interface is in communication with the broadcast overlay network via the second network ring. The DSLAM is adapted to receive a request for a particular video channel from a customer premise via the line interface and to deliver the particular video channel from the network interface to the line interface.

Abstract: A transmitter generates a pilot having a constant time-domain envelope and a flat frequency spectrum based on a polyphase sequence. To generate a pilot IFDMA symbol, a first sequence of pilot symbols is formed based on the polyphase sequence and replicated multiple times to obtain a second sequence of pilot symbols. A phase ramp is applied to the second pilot symbol sequence to obtain a third sequence of output symbols. A cyclic prefix is appended to the third sequence of output symbols to obtain an IFDMA symbol, which is transmitted in the time domain via a communication channel. The pilot symbols may be multiplexed with data symbols using TDM and/or CDM. A pilot LFDMA symbol may also be generated with a polyphase sequence and multiplexed using TDM or CDM. A receiver derives a channel estimate based on received pilot symbols and using minimum mean-square error, least-squares, or some other channel estimation technique.
Abstract: A contact lens package that is reusable as a case to store a contact lens between uses includes a lid, a base, one or more receptacles for a contact lens case, and a time keeping device. The time keeping device comprises an indicator for each one or more receptacles that indicates a period of time that has elapsed since the contact lens case currently in the receptacle was placed therein. When the period of time has expired, the indicator denotes a need to discard both the contact lens case and a contact lens associated with the contact lens case.

Abstract: High dynamic range imaging includes creating a high dynamic range image file for a subject image captured from a first angle. The high dynamic range image file is created by an image capturing device and is stored on the image capturing device. High dynamic range imaging also includes receiving, at the image capturing device over a communications network, a second high dynamic range image file for the subject image captured from a second angle. The second high dynamic range image file is subject to an authorization requirement. High dynamic range imaging further includes creating, by the image capturing device, a composite high dynamic range image file by combining elements of both of the high dynamic range image files, and generating, by the first image capturing device, a three-dimensional high dynamic range image from the composite high dynamic range image file.
Abstract: Provided are a signal restoring apparatus that can restore a reception signal of a counterpart terminal and increase frequency band efficiency by estimating its own transmission signal from a reception signal transmitted from a counterpart terminal through a satellite communication device and removing the estimated transmission signal, and a method thereof. The signal restoring apparatus according to the exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes: a transmitter transmitting a transmission signal to a satellite communication device; a band spread signal generator transmitting a band spread signal to the satellite communication device; a signal estimator estimating the transmission signal included in a reception signal transmitted from a counterpart terminal through the satellite communication device on the basis of the transmission signal and the band spread signal; and a signal remover removing the estimated transmission signal from the reception signal.

Abstract: Implementing intelligent agent services includes generating an ontological domain for an individual based upon sets of information elements. A set of the information elements represents aspects of a detectable behavior of the individual at a point in time. The detectable behavior is one of a number of detectable behaviors of the individual occurring within a physical and virtual geography and in relation to time. The detectable behaviors include an activity conducted by the individual at a computer and a presence of the individual at a function. Implementing the intelligent agent services also includes determining relevance of relationships among the sets of the information elements in the ontological domain, and searching sources of information using the sets of the information elements having a relationship determined to be relevant, and identifying a solution for satisfying an interest based on the search.
Abstract: A stiffened brassiere having two layers of fabric between which a stiffening element is inserted. The two layers of fabric are joined together by adhesive bonding and are then shaped to form the cups and the side bands of the brassiere.
