Abstract: The present invention provides nine selective c-FLIP inhibitors that are useful in the treatment of cancer, alone or in combination with other chemotherapeutic agents, in particular with TRAIL-based chemotherapeutic agents. The present invention also relates to pharmaceutical compositions and kits comprising at least one of the nine selective c-FLIP inhibitors and their use in methods for the treatment of cancer, in particular to overcome chemoresistance or to improve sensitivity of tumors to TRAIL-based therapy.

Abstract: A height-adjustable armrest for a chair, in particular an office chair, has an arm support, which is retained by an armrest holder. The armrest holder is pivotable and a pivoting causes the armrest to be adjusted in height. An arresting device fixes the armrest holder in a height position. The arresting device is arranged at the upper, alterable-height end of the armrest holder and has a linearly movable latching element. The latching element is connected via a guide element to the armrest holder such that each pivoting movement of the armrest holder induces a linear movement of the latching element.
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing an improvement to computer security relating to electronic digital messages are provided. In an embodiment, a computing device receives an electronic digital message that is sent to a receiving account. The computing device identifies a sending account associated with the electronic digital message and from which the electronic digital message was sent. The computing device obtains metadata relating to the sending account, the metadata including received message data that is related to a number of messages that have been received by the sending account. The computing device determines that the sending account satisfies a received message criteria based, at least in part, on the received message data and, in response, performs a responsive action relating to the electronic digital message.

Abstract: A method refocuses on an optical assembly target surface, using at least one beam originating from a short-pulse optical source, having at least one optical system for focusing the beam on the surface. Refocusing occurs after learning reference conditions for which the assembly is considered as focused. A focusing signal is detected representing a time overlap of pulses between a beam reflected and a reference beam not reflected by the surface, one of the beams delayed by a delay line. The optical path on which the delay line is placed is varied, on the basis of the reference conditions, to cause the focusing signal to reach or exceed a predetermined threshold. The focus is adjusted on the basis of the path variation between the reference conditions and the conditions for which the focusing signal reaches or exceeds the threshold.

Abstract: Refining assemblies and methods for refining rich natural gas containing a first methane gas and other hydrocarbons that are heavier than methane gas are disclosed. In some embodiments, the assemblies may include a methane-producing assembly configured to receive at least one liquid-containing feed stream that includes water and rich natural gas and to produce an output stream therefrom by (a) converting at least a substantial portion of the other hydrocarbons of the rich natural gas with the water to a second methane gas, a lesser portion of the water, and other gases, and (b) allowing at least a substantial portion of the first methane gas from the rich natural gas to pass through the methane-producing assembly unconverted. The assemblies may additionally include a purification assembly configured to receive the output stream and to produce a methane-rich stream therefrom having a greater methane concentration than the output stream.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for characterising the quality of an X-ray beam having a known profile for depositing a dose in a body, having an zone (Za1, Za2) of increasing dose rate inside said body extending between the input surface of the beam and a characteristic depth (Pmax) where the deposited dose is at a maximum, the method comprising the following steps: —providing a monolithic detector including in p-n junctions (m>3) stacked depth-wise in the detector with at least three junctions distributed in the zone of increasing dose rate; —projecting said X-ray beam onto the monolithic detector; —recovering the m signals (r) delivered by the p-n junctions of the detector; —and processing the m signals (r) in order to characterise the quality of the X-ray beam.

The one or more of the plurality of emitters may be encoded into a single multichannel file.
