Abstract: An oil control valve for a cam phaser of an internal combustion engine where the spool is positioned by an external actuator. The pressure enters the end of the oil control valve where the resultant pressure force is balanced by the differential area of the spool. The spool contains two plate check valves enabling cam torque recirculation of oil from A to B or B to A depending upon the spool position. In mid position, the spool lands block A and B to hold the cam phaser position. Three or five positions may be utilized.

Abstract: A novel and useful topological, scalable, and reprogrammable quantum computing machine having one or more quasi-unidimensional chord lines along which the movement of a particle is constrained. The unidimensional passage has localized energy levels that can be controlled with classic electronics. The chord line has two or more quantum dots between which a quasi-unidimensional channel is formed for the particle to travel from one qdot to the other. The tunneling path may be polysilicon, metal, thin oxide, or induced depletion region. The chord line can be in a two-dimensional space for a planar process or in a three-dimensional space with multiple layers of signal processing for a three dimensional process. A quantum structure has semiconductor dots with a layer that provides the chord line for the quantum particle evolution to occur from one dot to the other. The various layers may include polysilicon, metal, thin oxide, or induced depletion region either fully overlapped or partially overlapped.

Abstract: Method and systems control a rotational speed of a blood pump during ventricular diastole. A method includes controlling a blood pump in accordance with a first segment operational mode. A controller monitors the blood flow rate through the blood pump. The controller determines, based on the blood flow rate, whether continued controlling of the blood pump per the first segment operational mode would result in the blood flow rate through the blood pump being less than a target minimum blood flow rate. In response to a determination that continued controlling of the blood pump per the first segment operational mode would result in the blood flow rate through the blood pump being less than the target minimum blood flow rate, the controller controls the rotational speed of the blood pump so that the blood flow rate through the blood pump is approximate to the target minimum blood flow rate.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for the treatment of the eye to reduce pain can treat at least an outer region of the tissue so as to denervate nerves extending into the inner region and reduce the pain. For example, the cornea of the eye may comprise an inner region having an epithelial defect, and an outer portion of the cornea can be treated to reduce pain of the epithelial defect. The outer portion of the cornea can be treated to denervate nerves extending from the outer portion to the inner portion. The outer portion can be treated in many ways to denervate the nerve, for example with one or more of heat, cold or a denervating noxious substance such as capsaicin. The denervation of the nerve can be reversible, such that corneal innervation can return following treatment.
