Abstract: A conformable wound dressing system is provided. The system includes a backing and a dressing support layer. The backing has a first major surface, a second major surface opposite the first major surface, a perimeter that includes first and second lateral edges extending from a first end to a second end, and a longitudinal axis extending form the first end to the second end. An adhesive is on the first major surface and a dressing support layer is on the second major surface. The dressing support layer comprises a first section and second section where the first section is disconnected and spaced apart from the second section to define a gap extending from the first end of the backing to the second end of the backing.
Abstract: A process for producing an eyelet for a biomedical electrode (e.g. an electrocardiogram (ECG) electrode) involves: hot pressing an electrically conductive thermoplastic or elastomeric resin to produce a film having a web of eyelets, each eyelet having a post protruding from a first face of the film and a flange at a second face of the film; applying a coating of a non-polarizable conductive material (e.g. a silver-containing material) on to a contact face of the flange; and, cutting the film to produce the eyelets separated from the web. Preferably, the process involves extrusion replication. A web of eyelets for biomedical electrodes has a film of an electrically conductive thermoplastic or elastomeric resin possessing a plurality of posts protruding from a first face of the film, and preferably a layer of a non-polarizable conductive material on a second face of the film. The process may be a one-step continuous process that is cheaper and simpler than current commercial processes.

Abstract: A connector is disclosed that includes a housing and first and second attachment areas located in the housing and spaced apart from each other along the mating direction of the connector. The second, but not the first, attachment area is designed to move relative to the housing. The connector further includes an optical waveguide that is permanently attached to, and under a first bending force between, the first and second attachment areas. The connector also includes a light coupling unit located in the housing for receiving light from the optical waveguide and transmitting the received light to a mating connector along a direction different than the mating direction of the connector. The mating of the connector to the mating connector causes the optical waveguide to be under a greater second bending force between the first and second attachment areas.

Abstract: A hearing protector (1) having an ear cup (11) forming a space for a wearer's ear. The ear cup has a shell (13) with an ear facing inner side (22) and a passageway extending through the shell between the ear facing inner side and an outer side (16) of the shell. The ear cup further has a loudspeaker assembly which seals the passageway from the outer side. The loud speaker assembly further has a seal member (18) and a loudspeaker module (17). A portion of the seal member is arranged between the shell and a fastener (25), and the fastener retains the loudspeaker assembly at the shell. The hearing protector facilitates manufacturing and maintenance and provides for maximize wearing comfort and technical reliability.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a personal respiratory protection device, in particular, such a device comprising a respirator body having a periphery, a filter media, forming at least part of the respirator body, and a gasket, the gasket being located at the periphery and extending along at least a portion of its length.

Abstract: A method of making a physical mockup the method comprises the steps of providing a virtual dental arch, a virtual set of orthodontic brackets for the virtual dental arch and a virtual set of analogs. Each analog is associated with a virtual bracket of the virtual set of brackets and the shape of at least one of the analogs differs from the shape of the associated bracket. The method further comprises the steps of providing a virtual mockup in which the virtual dental arch and the set of virtual analogs are merged, and manufacturing the physical mockup based on the virtual mockup. The physical mockup represents a shape composed of the shape the dental arch and the shape of the set of analogs. The invention facilitates bonding of brackets to a patent's teeth.

Abstract: A resin blend is provided including a blend of resorcinol diphthalonitrile ether resin and a bisphenol M diphthalonitrile ether resin. Another resin blend is provided including a blend of resorcinol diphthalonitrile ether resin and a bisphenol T diphthalonitrile ether resin. The resin blends prior to cure have more favorable processing and curing properties compared to the resorcinol diphthalonitrile resin alone, enabling greater ease in manufacturing.
Abstract: Adhesive compositions are provided that contain a crosslink product resulting from exposure of a (meth)acrylic-based composition to electron beam radiation, gamma ray radiation, or both. More particularly, the (meth)acrylic-based composition includes a (meth)acrylic-based diblock copolymer and an optional (meth)acrylic-based triblock copolymer. These adhesive compositions are particularly well suited for application to biological surface such as skin.
Abstract: Crosslinkable compositions are provided that contain a) a polymeric material having at least two terminal dithiocarbamate groups or two terminal dithiocarbonate groups and b) a monomer composition that includes at least a crosslinking monomer having two or more ethylenically unsaturated groups. The polymeric materials in the crosslinkable compositions undergo chain extension and crosslinking reactions when exposed to actinic radiation in the ultraviolet region of the electromagnetic spectrum. Additionally, crosslinked compositions, articles that contain the crosslinkable compositions or the crosslinked compositions, and methods of making the articles are provided.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for objectively assessing acoustical performance of an in-ear device having a passageway extending there through use a dual microphone probe that removably engages the passageway. The acoustical performance of the in-ear device is performed with the in-ear device inserted into the ear canal of the user and a reference sound source. A clip holding the probe in an acoustic near field of the sound source permits real time calibration thereof. The method and apparatus allow on-site and in-situ measurement of a predicted personal attenuation rating of the device, a subject-fit re-insertion test, an acoustic seal test, a rating test, a stability and reliability test, as well as a protection test of the device with an assessment of a filtered predicted exposure level at the ear for a specific noise exposure level. The apparatus may be simply housed along with the sound source for in-field evaluation tests.
Abstract: Provided is a double coated tape with improved reworkable capability, in which a first adhesive layer, a film carrier layer, a foam carrier layer, and a second adhesive layer are sequentially stacked, and which includes a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) film located between the foam carrier layer and the second adhesive layer. Since the double coated tape is used for bonding of an LCD panel to a frame, while providing improved light leakage performance and reworkable capability, the double coated tape is advantageously used when manufacturing an electronic appliance such as a television, a cellular phone, and a computer.
