Abstract: A method of making an adhesive backed web, wherein the adhesive layer of such web has partially embedded filaments projecting therefrom. The filaments may comprise a thermoplastic material or a hot melt adhesive. The filaments are contacted to a major surface of a liner material then pressed partially thereinto. An adhesive layer, as from an adhesive backed film, is then laminated to the filament-containing liner, allowing the adhesive layer to pick up the filaments.

The isotropic multilayer optical film allows at least 50% of the light having an incident angle of more than the cutoff angle from normal to the first major surface of the isotropic multilayer optical film to pass through the isotropic multilayer optical film. The isotropic multilayer optical film includes a marking on the second major surface of the isotropic multilayer optical film, the marking including at least one fluorescent compound.
Abstract: Methods and systems for implementing experimental trials on utility grids. Variations in grid parameters are selected to introduce into utility grids to improve the value of learning from each experimental trial and promoting improved utility grid performance by computing expected values for both learning and grid performance. Those trials are used to manage the opportunity costs and constraints that affect the introduction of variations into utility grid parameters and the generation of valid data that can be attributed to particular variations in utility grid parameters.

Abstract: Methods for recognizing or identifying tooth types using digital 3D models of teeth. The methods include receiving a segmented digital 3D model of teeth and selecting a digital 3D model of a tooth from the segmented digital 3D model. An aggregation of the plurality of distinct features of the tooth is computed to generate a single feature describing the digital 3D model of the tooth. A type of the tooth is identified based upon the aggregation, which can include comparing the aggregation with features corresponding with known tooth types. The methods also include identifying a type of tooth, without segmenting it from an arch, based upon tooth widths and a location of the tooth within the arch.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a system. The system includes one or more computers having processing circuitry and a memory storing instructions which, when executed by the processing circuitry, cause the processing circuitry to perform operations including determining a labeled classification from a collection of documents corresponding to an encounter. The collection of documents comprises a first plurality of n-grams. The operations also include determining an evidence score for an n-gram based on contribution of the n-gram to the labeled classification, ranking at least some of the first plurality of n-grams based on the evidence score for each n-gram, selecting an n-gram from the first plurality of n-grams as an explanation evidence based on the ranking and performing at least one operation in response to selecting the n-gram.

Abstract: Articles subject to ice formation during normal use, are described comprising a repellent surface such that the receding contact angle of the surface with water ranges from (90) degrees to (135) degrees wherein the repellent surface comprises a siloxane material. In one embodiment, the repellent surface further comprises a non-fluorinated organic polymeric binder. In another embodiment, the repellent surface comprises a thermally processable polymer and a siloxane material melt additive. Also described are methods of making an article comprising providing an article subject to ice formation during normal use; and providing a liquid repellent surface, as described herein, on at least a portion of the article.
Abstract: Provided are devices for applying actinic radiation to a curable resin. The devices include a housing having a front face, an actinic radiation source arranged within the housing such that actinic radiation emerges from the housing through the front face, and a proximity detector. The proximity detector is functionally connected to the actinic radiation source such that the actinic radiation source is shut off unless the proximity detector detects the presence of a surface within a safe distance from the front face. Optionally, the device includes a surface temperature sensor functionally connected to the actinic radiation source such that the actinic radiation source is shut off if the surface temperature sensor senses a surface temperature exceeding a maximum safe surface temperature.
