Abstract: The present invention provides a cooling apparatus for cooling a turbine blade. The cooling apparatus comprises a pressure side plate comprising a plurality of pressure ribs, a suction side plate comprising a plurality of suction ribs, and a plurality of flow redirection areas. The pressure side plate is disposed over the suction side plate, where the pressure ribs are disposed at a first angle with respect to a blade span reference line and the suction ribs are disposed at a second angle with respect to the blade span reference line, to form the flow redirection areas. The present invention provides a method of fabricating the cooling apparatus for the turbine blade comprising aligning the pressure side plate and the suction side plate to form the plurality of flow redirection areas between the pressure side plate and the suction side plate.

Abstract: A method enables a rotor assembly for a gas turbine engine to be fabricated. The method includes forming a blade including an airfoil extending from an integral dovetail used to mount the blade within the rotor assembly, and extending a projection from at least a portion of the blade, such that the stresses induced within at least a portion of the blade are facilitated to be maintained below a predetermined failure threshold for the blade to facilitate preventing failure of the blade.

Abstract: A system and method for generating and sharing consistent application definitions amongst multiple performance and resource management tools. A common interface accepts requests from performance or resource management tools and returns requested process-to-application mapping data. A parameters file contains a common syntax for application definitions, and a module uses the parameters file to determine mapping from processes into applications. A performance monitoring tool for senses current system processes' states and provides measurement data to the mapping module.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for inserting flexible bags and other liners into open packaging containers. One or more engagement heads engage and position the flexible liners in preparation for their insertion into open containers using an insertion assembly. One or more of the engagement heads are preferably made with vacuum heads that are movable to open the liner for the insertion assembly. A cuffing assembly can be included for cuffing the open end of the liners over the top edges of the open containers. Clamping assemblies can be included on the cuffing assembly to facilitate holding the liners during insertion and cuffing. The use of an engagement assembly, insertion assembly, and cuffing assembly which are independently driven helps to provide greater speed and operational flexibility.

Abstract: A reflector lamp has a generally parabolic shaped housing (12) with an interior surface coated with a layer (14) of silver having a protective layer (16) of a stable protective oxide, such as silica, disposed thereon. An intermediate layer (18), such as a layer of elemental silicon, protects the silver layer during deposition of the silica layer and is completely or substantially consumed during formation of the silica layer. The lamp includes a light source (48) having a longitudinal axis (x) disposed on the parabolic reflector axis and preferably disposed outward of the parabolic focus (F). During lamp fabrication, the protective coating is preferably annealed to improve reflectance. The preferred lamp will have a lumens per watt greater than 14.

Abstract: A fiber reinforced thermoplastic pipe member is obtained by a novel continuous process in which the reinforcement fibers are wrapped about the outer pipe surface in an unbonded condition while the pipe member continuously moves in a linear direction and which is followed by sufficient heating of the moving fiber wrapped pipe member to cause thermal bonding between the applied fibers and the pipe member. Automated apparatus for carrying out the continuous process is also disclosed.
Abstract: A computer system containing logic for processing a read block transaction from a PCI-X device. A technique is also disclosed for processing a read block transaction from a PCI-X device. The technique is defined by PCI-X specifications wherein the read block transaction is processed accordingly in a computer system. The technique determines whether the transaction is a read block and whether the transaction crosses a memory boundary. The technique also determines whether a page roll is required and administers one if it is required. Furthermore, the technique provides a means for reading and delivering the data to a PCI-X device.
