Abstract: A displacement detector has a contact sensor incorporating a differential transformer and a circuit for adjusting the amplitude of the driving signal for driving a differential transformer of the sensor by feeding back as a standard signal the driving signal through an amplifier and an AC-DC converter as a standard signal. The sensor has a housing containing a mobile member. The mobile member has a shaft with a hole. An outer tubular body of a linear bush and a ball guide each have a hole, and a pin is inserted through these holes movably in the direction of movement of the mobile member such that the rotation of the mobile member is prevented.

  • Publication number: 20040093564
Abstract: A method and apparatus for visualizing changes in text data, such as in software code or a document, are provided. When two versions of text data are to be compared, each of the versions of text data are loaded into memory, such as a text data buffer. A display of the two versions is then generated with one version of the text data superimposed over the other. That is, the text is compared so that corresponding or matched text is displayed in the same location on the display such that the appearance of corresponding text in the two versions is as if there were a single document displayed. The display is then switched between the first version of the text data and the second version of the text data. The result of such switching is that portions of text that are dissimilar between the versions appear to move due to their dissimilarity. The “movement” of the text is easily discernible to the human eye.

  • Publication number: 20040093137
Abstract: An electronic control unit continuously stores data indicating the monitoring frequency of the diagnosis items determined by the RateBase monitoring method and is increased one by one with the maximum amount of change in the single operating period to an EEPROM. When any data is incremented by one, this data is entered to the EEPROM and the write completion flag for this data is turned on. Thereafter, in this operating period, this data is never entered to the EEPROM. Therefore, reduction and increase in the number of times of data entry to the programmable non-volatile memory and reliable storage of this data can be realized effectively.

  • Publication number: 20040090410
Abstract: On a glass substrate, gate bus lines, data bus lines, and TFTs are formed. Then, on the substrate, an insulating film, covering the gate bus lines, data bus lines and TFTs, is formed, and a positive type photoresist film is further formed thereon. Next, through exposure and development processes, the resist film is divided for each picture element and subjected to ultraviolet ray irradiation to harden only a surface layer thereof. Then, the resist film is subjected to heat treatment to form thereon wrinkle-form surface ruggedness of a uniform pattern, which is determined depending on the size of the resist film. Subsequently, reflection electrodes are formed on the resist film. The reflection electrodes are formed to overlap the gate bus line, data bus line and TFTs, and the regions between the adjacent reflection electrodes serve as light transmission regions.

  • Patent number: 6728750
Abstract: A system and a method for developing and dynamically constructing multi-tiered distributed computing applications using a framework which allows the major elements involved in enterprise software applications, namely, the user interface, the data access, and the processing logic, to be independently developed. Moreover, the applications are dynamically created at time of use with pre-built software components or objects. The specifics of the applications such as functions, capabilities, user interface (UI) characteristics, etc., may depend on, for example, the user identity, the user preferences, and the terminal capability. Software development cost and turn-around time are reduced, promoting consistent UI design thus reducing user training cost, and allowing the applications to be dynamically created according to the user profile.

  • Patent number: 6726570
Abstract: The tripod member has three trunnions which are projected radially. Each of the trunnions carries a roller, and this roller is accommodated in one of the track grooves in the outer joint member. The outer peripheries of the rollers and the roller guideways make angular contact with each other. Support rings are fitted onto the outer peripheries of the trunnions. These support rings and the rollers are assembled (unitized) via a plurality of needle rollers to constitute roller assemblies capable of relative rotations. In longitudinal sections, the outer peripheries of the trunnions have straight shapes parallel to the axes of the trunnions. In cross sections, the outer peripheries are elliptic in shape, with their respective major axes perpendicular to the axis of the joint. The inner peripheries of the support rings have arcuate convex sections.

  • Patent number: 6728699
Abstract: A method and apparatus for using prior results when processing successive database requests. This is accomplished by storing selected results during the processing of selected user requests. When a subsequent user request is processed, the system determines if appropriate prior results have already been generated and stored by a previous user request. If so, the prior results are used in the processing of the subsequent user request. Because the prior results are not regenerated, the processing time for the subsequent user request may be reduced accordingly.

  • Patent number: 6728920
Abstract: Family of methods for correcting errors in transfer of information over a lossy medium. The message to be sent is first broken into Data Blocks, which are further divided into N data segments. These data segments are sent verbatim and followed by XOR combinations of the data segments, called Error Correcting Segments. Incorrect Data or Error Correcting Segments are detected through the use of a CRC or any other error detection algorithm, and errored Data or Error Correcting Segments are discarded. Once all Data or Error Correcting Segments for a message segment are received, logic or a look up table is used to determine which of the Data Segments can be recovered. The lost Data Segment recovery is done using a binary XOR of multiple good Data or Error Correcting Segments. For additional error correction, Data and Error Correcting Segments can also be repeatedly transmitted multiple times to further improve the performance of this algorithm.

  • Patent number: 6726626
Abstract: An electrostatic transducer circuit and method of tuning the same, in which a balancing inductance is inserted into the electrostatic transducer circuit is described. The electrostatic transducer circuit generally includes transmit circuitry, receive circuitry and a capacitive electrostatic transducer. The balancing inductance is tuned to counteract the negative reactance of the capacitive electrostatic transducer at a desired operating frequency during the transmit mode. The balancing inductance is inserted into the transmit circuitry and is then isolated from the remaining parts of the electrostatic transducer circuit. Isolation is achieved by switching the electrostatic transducer circuit between transmit and receive modes of operation. Further, a receive circuit balancing reactance can also be included. The method provides a balancing inductance that is used to counteract negative reactance of the capacitive electrostatic transducer at a desired operating frequency during transmit mode.
