  • Patent number: 5888095
Abstract: An in-line connector for coaxial connectors, which enables two flush cut cables to be spliced together without further cutting of the cable's insulator or outer conductor jacket. A longitudinal connector has an internal concentrically mounted wire connector which contacts the inner wire conductor of each cable to be spliced. A pair of metallic sleeves extend from the conductor and are inserted into each cable to make contact with the woven metallic sheath of each cable. A collapsible sleeve is concentrically mounted to each end of the connector and engages the connector to inhibit relative rotation. A lock nut threadably engages each of the collapsible sleeves to cover the connection and secure each cable to the connector.

  • Patent number: 5882342
Abstract: A syringe for giving medical injections which has an internal mechanism for retracting the needle into the syringe after the injection has been given and locking the needle and plunger inside the barrel of the syringe to reduce the risk of accidental needle pricks. In one embodiment the needle is retracted by a tension spring into a compartment inside a hollow plunger and in the other embodiment the needle is propelled by a compressed spring into a compartment within the plunger. In both embodiments, the interior of the hollow plunger is hydraulically sealed off by a barrier from the fluid chamber of the syringe to prevent fluid from entering the interior of the hollow plunger.

  • Patent number: 5881477
Abstract: An improved snowshoe is provided which includes a unitary molded planar platform and a peripheral curved lip extending away from the platform. Integral with the underside of the platform is a plurality of stiffening ribs to provide support to the platform. Retaining straps are provided for securing a wearer's foot to the snowshoe platform. A plurality of slots are formed through the platform which enables snow trapped on the surface of the platform to fall therethrough. In a first embodiment, the slots also serve as anchor points for selective placement of the retaining straps and selective positioning of the foot on the platform. Based upon the wearer's desire, the straps may be arranged in a number of different combinations and selectively adjusted to accommodate the particular type of foot gear worn. A second embodiment enables the platform to receive either a cross-country ski binding or a snowboard binding. A third embodiment discloses a snowshoe adapted for use by children.

  • Patent number: 5876281
Abstract: A pulse air jet generator being used for an air shower apparatus. An air flow restricting member, which is so configured as to cross an air flow blown off from an air blowoff nozzle intermittently at part of the rotational locus thereof and to rotate by the air flow, is provided on the air blowoff side of the air blowoff nozzle, and the weight of a rotating portion including the air flow restricting member is unbalanced so that the air flow restricting member is reset to a position corresponding to that of the air blowoff nozzle by the dead weight when the air blowoff is stopped. The air blowoff nozzle is disposed in an annular frame fixed on an air blowoff portion at a position shifted to the outer peripheral side from the center of the annular frame, the rotational center of the air flow restricting member is positioned at the center of the annular frame.

  • Patent number: 5877053
Abstract: This invention discloses a novel design for increasing the surface area of a stacked capacitor used in DRAM devices. The upper and lower plates of the capacitor comprises of several concave structures. The concave structures are first produces on an LS-SOG layer using focused ion beam lithography, which is then mapped to the lower plate of the capacitor. A dielectric layer is deposited, after which an upper plate is formed. The concave structures increases the plate area, thereby increasing charge storage capacity.

  • Patent number: 5873684
Abstract: A milling tool 8 includes a tool holder 10 for housing multiple thread cutting inserts 24 for precise milling of threads on a workpiece. The tool holder 10 is rotatable in an orbitable path spaced radially from a milling axis and is simultaneously rotatable about its own axis for repeatedly bringing each of the cutting inserts into engagement with the workpiece. Each cutting insert is precisely positioned within the tool holder by a stop surface 62 located at an axially rearward end of an insert cavity 28 in the tool holder. An axially elongate tool holder groove 32 is provided in communication with a side face of the generally rectilinear insert cavity. Each cutting insert defines a substantially rectangular plate, an end face for mating engagement with the stop surface 62 and an axially elongate insert groove 26 extending from a corresponding side face on the rectangular plate.

  • Patent number: 5870866
Abstract: The foundation and support system for a manufactured structure comprises a plurality of vertically adjustable supports fixedly mounted on footings in an excavated area under the structure. The adjustable supports are fixedly attached to main support stringers to support the weight and anchor the structure in the ground. A plurality of thin elongated foundation wall panels are cambered outwardly with respect to the periphery of the home to serve as a flexible retaining wall for backfill with the ability to flex along the longitudinal access to accommodate small movements in the home and strong winds without breaking or pulling out the fasteners and adds stability in the nature of tie downs which resist lifting. Three variations of the panels provide lap joints for running lengths and corners which may be sealed with flexible adhesive to resist entry of water in the space under the structure.

  • Patent number: 5868901
Abstract: A crimper assembly includes upper and lower crimper bars which are rotated relative to a sheet of packaging material. A pair of upper crimpers are secured to opposite sides of the upper crimper bar, while a pair of lower crimpers are secured to opposite sides of the lower crimper bars. Each of the upper crimpers includes a metallic base having an outwardly facing portion with an undulating cross sectional shape. A slot is formed in the outwardly facing portion of the upper crimper, and a cutting blade is retained therein. In a first embodiment, an insert is secured to the base of each of the upper crimpers. The insert includes a rigid shank having a lip portion extending therefrom. Portions of the outer surface of the shank are covered by a layer of a relatively resilient material. The layer is formed from a material which is suitable for compressing overlapping portions of the folded sheet of packaging material to form an intermeshing seal patter.
