Abstract: In general, multiple embodiments of a catheter/fistula needle to bloodline connection assurance device, which secures and strengthens a connection between an extension tube end of a catheter or fistula needle and a bloodline, are provided. In one embodiment, the assurance device includes a clamshell having two halves that open rotatably about at least one hinge. The assurance device includes a male luer portion that pressure seals to the male luer portion of the bloodline connector. The bloodline male luer portion of the device extends to a female luer portion, which is lined with a compressible material that conforms around any industrial catheter/fistula needle connector when the assurance device is closed about the mated connectors. Once the assurance device is closed, this prevents axial movement of the bloodline connector relative to the assurance device.

Abstract: A pointing device includes accelerometers and rotational sensors that are coupled to a processor. The processor samples the accelerometers and rotational sensors to detect gravity and pointing device motion and uses algebraic algorithms to calculate roll compensated cursor control signals. The processor transmits the cursor control signals to a receiver that is coupled to an electronic device that moves the cursor on the visual display.
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of antibodies against the S100P protein for the prevention and/or treatment of cancer; and to methods and kits for diagnosing cancer in vitro by means of detecting the levels of S100P in a biofluid, preferably with an antibody. The invention also relates to specific anti-S100P monoclonal antibodies, hybridoma cell lines producing them and method for obtaining them, as well as to pharmaceutical compositions and conjugates containing them.

Abstract: Electronic devices are manufactured using a collective (wafer-scale) fabrication process. Electronic chips are mounted onto one face of a collective substrate wafer. A collective flexible sheet made of a heat-conductive material comprising a layer containing pyrolytic graphite is fixed to extend over a collective region extending over the electronic chips and over the collective substrate wafer between the electronic chips. The collective flexible sheet is then compressed. A dicing operation is then carried out in order to obtain electronic devices each including an electronic chip, a portion of the collective plate and a portion of the collective flexible sheet.

Abstract: The present application relates to a splitter nose of an axial turbomachine designed to separate an annular flow into the turbomachine into a primary flow and a secondary flow for undergoing a thermodynamic cycle. The nose includes a de-icing device with a wall defining, at least partially, an annular channel. A hot oil stream created by the turbomachine circulates in this latter. The oil runs through the circular nose and de-ices it while itself getting cooled. The wall is located so as to form the leading edge of the said splitter nose. The wall is an open or closed strip such as a tube which can be fixed by bonding, welding or recessing. The present application also relates to a multi-flow turbomachine with splitter noses fitted with de-icing devices.
Abstract: This application discloses devices, articles, and methods useful for producing lyophilized cakes of solutes. The devices and articles provide for a method of freezing liquid solutions of the solute by the top and the bottom of the solution simultaneously. The as frozen solution then provides a lyophilized cake of the solutes with large and uniform pores.

Abstract: Knockout of the meningococcal mltA homolog gives bacteria that spontaneously release vesicles that are rich in immunogenic outer membrane proteins and that can elicit cross-protective antibody responses with higher bactericidal titres than OMVs prepared by normal production processes. Thus the invention provides a bacterium having a knockout mutation of its mltA gene. The invention also provides a bacterium, wherein the bacterium: (i) has a cell wall that includes peptidoglycan; and (ii) does not express a protein having the lytic transglycosylase activity MltA protein. The invention also provides compositions comprising vesicles that, during culture of bacteria of the invention, are released into the culture medium.
Abstract: A transistor includes a quasi-intrinsic region of a first conductivity type that is covered with an insulated gate. The quasi-intrinsic region extends between two first doped regions of a second conductivity type. A main electrode is provided on each of the two first doped regions. A second doped region of a second conductivity type is position in contact with the quasi-intrinsic region, but is electrically and physically separated by a distance from the two first doped regions. A control electrode is provided on the second doped region.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a liquid evacuation device for an extraction well. The device comprises a tank presenting a liquid accumulation area. The tank is connected to a gas evacuation tubing. An insulant limits a flow of fluid between a wall of the tank and a wall of the well, from a first space formed between the insulant and the well bottom to a second space formed between the insulant and the well head. A first opening on the tank enables circulation of a gas-liquid mixture from said first space to a third space formed in the gas evacuation tubing. A second opening on the tank enables circulation of fluid from said second space to the liquid accumulation area. The first opening is made between the liquid accumulation area and the connection to the evacuation tubing.
