Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for learning a data augmentation policy for training a machine learning model. In one aspect, a method includes: receiving training data for training a machine learning model to perform a particular machine learning task; determining multiple data augmentation policies, comprising, at each of multiple time steps: generating a current data augmentation policy based on quality measures of data augmentation policies generated at previous time steps; training a machine learning model on the training data using the current data augmentation policy; and determining a quality measure of the current data augmentation policy using the machine learning model after it has been trained using the current data augmentation policy; and selecting a final data augmentation policy based on the quality measures of the determined data augmentation policies.

Abstract: A detection device and associated systems and methods for detecting analytes from a multiplex reaction are described. In particular, a device for conducting at least one detection reaction using a modified ELISA method including a surface with a detection region and a reference region, a detection sensor, and a light source. The detection device may include a complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor. The device may be used to measure and report discrete quantities or combinations of discrete analytes, providing information to aid in the prognosis and/or diagnosis of altered states of health in vertebrates.
Abstract: A music composition application for mobile devices provides gesture-driven interfaces for rapidly creating digital music compositions with chord and lyric notations. In certain embodiments, a gesture-driven composer environment can be configured in various modes to enable end-users to input and align chord notations with lyric notations, align chord notations with beat notations, and incorporate the chord with musical scores. The chord notations can be stored as chord objects with embedded information that can be propagated across the different modes, and the application facilitates transitions among modes while maintaining consistent chord information. Gesture-based inputs allow users to easily insert, reposition, and customize chord notations. The application also provides audio playback functionality by translating the digital music composition into analog audio signals.

Abstract: The technology relates to determining a future heading of an object. In order to do so, sensor data, including information identifying a bounding box representing an object in a vehicle's environment and locations of sensor data points corresponding to the object, may be received. Based on dimensions of the bounding box, an area corresponding to a wheel of the object may be identified. An orientation of the wheel may then be estimated based on the sensor data points having locations within the area. The estimation may then be used to determine a future heading of the object.
Abstract: Technology is described for scanning an optical code using an augmented reality (AR) headset. The method can include tracking an eye gaze of a user using the AR headset to identify an eye gaze location. A scan area of an optical camera of the AR headset may be set based in part on a gaze area defined around the eye gaze location. Another operation may be detecting a depth of a hand of a user in proximity to an item, using the AR headset. A focus depth of the optical camera may be set based in part on the depth of the hand from the AR headset. An optical code may be scanned from the product item using the optical camera at the focus depth.
Abstract: A gear drive includes a first rotational input coupled to a first planetary gear set. The gear drive further includes a second planetary gear set rotationally coupled to the first planetary gear set. The gear drive also includes a second sun gear of the second planetary gear set coupled to a first output. The gear drive further includes a second ring gear of the second planetary gear set coupled to a second output.
Abstract: The disclosure relates generally to gamma polyglutamated methotrexate compositions, including delivery vehicles such as liposomes containing the gamma polyglutamated methotrexate, and methods of making and using the gamma polyglutamated methotrexate compositions to treat hyperproliferative disorders (e.g., cancer) and disorders of the immune system (e.g., inflammation and autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis).
Abstract: A munitions rack includes a munitions rack structure that houses multiple compact ejectors. The structure includes a pair of internal longitudinal ribs, inboard of a pair of external longitudinal ribs. A spine of the munitions rack structure links all the ribs, and the munitions rack structure may be formed out of a single piece of material. The ribs define a pair of side recesses on the port and starboard sides of the bomb, which each may be further subdivided into a forward pocket and an aft pocket. Removable ejectors are located in the pockets. The ejectors may receive pressurized gas from pressurized gas source(s) located outside of the ejectors. The ejectors may each have multiple forward pistons and multiple aft pistons. The ejectors may include pitch control valving to control the relative amounts of pressurized gas sent to the forward piston(s) and aft piston(s).

Abstract: Various embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) radio frequency (RF) coil comprising a current-control circuit. A conductive trace forms a coil inductor and comprises a first trace segment and a second trace segment separated by the current-control circuit, which comprises a first reactive element and a circuit branch. The first reactive element is electrically coupled from the first trace segment to the second trace segment, and the circuit branch is electrically coupled in parallel with the first reactive element. The circuit branch comprises a second reactive element and a sub-circuit branch electrically coupled in parallel. The sub-circuit branch comprises a third reactive element and an electronic switch (e.g., a PIN diode) electrically coupled in series. The first reactive element and the third reactive element are one of capacitive and inductive, and the second reactive element is another one of capacitive and inductive.
