Abstract: An apparatus for recording an image onto a sheet medium (12) has an entrance nip (14) for transporting the sheet medium (12) into an image recording section (20). A write head (56) records onto a portion of the sheet medium (12) between the entrance nip (14) and exit nip (24). The exit nip (24) is formed by a drive roller (26) paired with a corresponding exit pressure roller (28). A motor (60) provides rotary motion to either the entrance drive roller (16) or the exit drive roller (26). A coupling apparatus (54) has a coupling roller (36) and a loading mechanism providing a loading force to nest the coupling roller (36) into continuous rotational contact against the entrance and exit drive rollers (16,26), whereby rotation is transferred between the exit drive roller (26) and the entrance drive roller (16).

Abstract: A mooring line for an oceanographic buoy system includes four sections. The first section is a protected cable that is connectable to the buoy. The second section is an energy absorbing cable. The third section is a weighted cable. The fourth section is a buoyant cable that is connectable to the anchor. The four sections are connected in series by smooth transitional connections. When the mooring line is deployed, it has an inverse catenary lay.
Abstract: A sonar emits an ultrasonic wave into the water from a transducer on the basis of a transmission signal outputted from a transmission circuit, receives an echo reflected in the water with the transducer and converts the echo into an electric signal, and displays underwater information on a display unit on the basis of an echo signal extracted by processing the electric signal. A tailing signal removing unit for removing a tailing signal and extracting only the echo signal is provided in the sonar such that a video of a surface layer fish shoal is clearly displayed on a screen of the display unit without being hidden by a video of the tailing signal.

Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for knowledge management. The method discloses the elements of: generating a client profile on a client computer connected to a network; storing the profile on the computer; receiving a new message; scoring the new message with respect to the client profile; counting a number of message responses to the new message; and re-transmitting the new message to a first sub-set of client computers on the network, based on the response count. The system discloses means for implementing the method.

Abstract: A method for fabricating a Finfet device with body contacts and a device fabricated using the method are provided. In one example, a silicon-on-insulator substrate is provided. A T-shaped active region is defined in the silicon layer of the silicon-on-insulator substrate. A source region and a drain region form two ends of a cross bar of the T-shaped active region and a body contact region forms a leg of the T-shaped active region. A gate oxide layer is grown on the active region. A polysilicon layer is deposited overlying the gate oxide layer and patterned to form a gate, where an end of the gate partially overlies the body contact region to complete formation of a Finfet device with body contact.
Abstract: An even number of reflection mirrors reflecting a light beam in the sub-scanning direction are disposed on an optical path from a deflecting reflection surface of an optical deflector to a corresponding surface to be scanned, for a light beam that is incident on the deflecting reflection surface from one side of a line normal to the deflecting reflection surface in the sub-scanning direction. An odd number of reflection mirrors reflecting the light beam in the sub-scanning direction is disposed on the optical path, for a light beam that is incident on the deflecting reflection surface from the other side of the line normal to the deflecting reflection surface in the sub-scanning direction.
Abstract: Composite compositions that include polymeric nanoparticles and clay nanoparticles, and a method for forming the compositions are provided.
