Abstract: A solar receiver system (10) has a solar receiver (12) that receives sun rays (14) directed thereto. The receiver (12) has a heat pipe (26) having working fluid (38) therein. The first end (28) of heat pipe (26) and a second end (30) form a respective first condenser (32) and a second condenser (34). An evaporator portion (36) is disposed between the ends (28,30). The first end (28) has an air manifold (42) therearound. The second end has a liquid manifold (48) therearound. The heated air from the air manifold (42) is provided to a power generation device (22). The power generation device (22) receives heated air from the air manifold (42) which is expanded in a turbine (68) to extract mechanical work therefrom. The turbine (68) may be coupled to a generator (78) for generating electrical power in response to the mechanical energy.
Abstract: Packaging and processes for facilitating fast, efficient, and reliable production line packaging of products, and more particularly perishable products including meat products. Product trays according to the present invention are formed of non-foam plastic material with three dimensional structure and configuration that imparts an esthetically pleasing appearance and feel to the customer at the point of sale, as well as offering to the consumer a container that is microwavable, dishwasher safe and freezer safe in addition, if desired, to being recyclable. Such packaging and processes are particularly useful in newly emerging automated supply chains where inventory sales are tracked to support centralized processing of meat and other perishable products at centralized facilities for shipment to geographically distant points of sale.

Abstract: A multimedia telecommunications call centre receives incoming calls via a gateway, which transmits the call request to a multipoint controller. The multipoint controller controls call routing to a desired terminal on a network, with the physical call datastream being carried directly across the network without mediation by the multipoint controller, thereby obviating bottlenecks at the controller and providing scalability.

Abstract: A method for producing apertures in hot section components of gas turbine engines made from ceramic matrix composites that have at least one oxidizable component. The method involves forming the apertures using a laser beam controlled by parameters that ablate the ceramic matrix composite in the path of the beam, while simultaneously heating the matrix material, SiC or SiN, to a sufficient temperature to oxidize it to form a silica. Sufficient heat is supplied by the beam to melt the silica to cause it to flow. The melted silica is quickly solidified as recast silica along the walls of the newly created aperture before it has an opportunity to flow and form undesirable geometries. The wall of the aperture is formed of recast silica that is a smooth surface and that forms an oxidation barrier to inhibit any further oxidation of the underlying composite as it is exposed to the high temperatures and oxidative, corrosive atmosphere of an operating gas turbine.

Abstract: A container body of which length in the longitudinal direction or a part thereof is formed into horizontal accordion shape except the tap portion, wherein a force in one direction acts on a piece of folds constituting the accordion shape and/or a part of inner periphery, while a force in the opposite direction acts on the outer periphery thereof, when a force from a substantially right-angle direction thereof is applied to the accordion-shaped portion of said container body, thereby a compressed state in a longitudinal direction is maintained.
Abstract: The present invention provides a color coded identification system for identifying a hand tool. The system includes a chart defining operating characteristic of the hand tool by use of a first group of colors and handle size by used of a second group of colors. The hand tool has a handle and an operative member. The handle includes a first portion with a color chosen from the first group of colors. Further, the handle includes a second portion with a color chosen from the second group of colors. Abstract: A method and system of tracing an agricultural product relates to recording of at least one of planting information, growing information, harvesting information, chemical information, and weather information (e.g., electronically recorded) concerning a crop to form a data profile for a corresponding crop. Once harvested, the crop is segregated from intermixing with other harvested crops by placing the crop in one or more containers, each having a corresponding identifier. The data profile is associated with the container profile for later referencing of the data profile.

Abstract: A method for removing color moire pattern noise having known chromaticities from a digital image is disclosed. The chromaticities are used to determine the region of color moire. The chromaticities within the region of color moire are then changed in accordance with the chromaticities of the located pixels in the region of color moire so that the color moire pattern noise is reduced.

Abstract: A process for formulating certain epothilone analogs for parenteral administration is disclosed wherein the analog is dissolved in a mixture of at least 50% by volume tertiary-butanol in water, the mixture is lyophilized, the resulting lyophilized product is packaged in one vial with a sufficient amount of solvent comprising anhydrous ethanol and a suitable nonionic surfactant in a second vial. All steps are carried out with protection from light. In use, the contents of the second or diluent vial are added to the lyophilized product and mixed to constitute the epothilone analog and the resulting solution is diluted with a suitable diluent to produce a solution for intravenous injection containing the epothilone analog in a concentration of from about 0.1 mg/mL to about 0.9 mg/mL. A preferred surfactant is polyethoxylated castor oil and a preferred diluent is Lactated Ringer's Injection.

Abstract: A method and structure for forming a modified field oxide region having increased field oxide threshold voltages (Vth) and/or reduced leakage currents between adjacent device areas is achieved. The method involves forming a field oxide using the conventional local oxidation of silicon (LOCOS) using a patterned silicon nitride layer as a barrier to oxidation. After forming the LOCOS field oxide by thermal oxidation and removing the silicon nitride, a conformal insulating layer composed of silicon oxide is deposited and anisotropically etched back to form sidewall insulating portions over the bird's beak on the edge of the LOCOS field oxide, thereby forming a new modified field oxide. P-channel implants are formed in the device areas. Then a second implant is used to implant through the modified field oxide to provide channel-stop regions with modified profiles that increase the field oxide Vth and/or reduce leakage current between device areas.
