  • Patent number: 6213934
Abstract: Non-invasive quantitative in-vivo electromagnetic evaluation of bone is performed by subjecting bone to an electrical excitation waveform supplied to a single magnetic field coil near the skin of a bony member, and involving a repetitive finite duration signal consisting of plural frequencies that are in the range 0 Hz-200 MHz. Signal-processing of a bone-current response signal and a bone-voltage response signal is operative to sequentially average the most recently received given number of successive bone-current and bone-voltage response signals to obtain an averaged per-pulse bone-current signal and an averaged per-pulse bone-voltage signal, and to produce their associated Fourier transforms. These Fourier transforms are further processed to obtain the inductively determined frequency-dependent bone-admittance function.

  • Patent number: 6214677
Abstract: A method for fabricating a self-aligned ultra short channel. The method uses double spacers as a hard mask, so that DRAM with the ultra short channel is formed in a self-aligned process. This method not only reduces the channel length, but also adjusts the dopants in lightly doped drains (LDD) at a side of the storage node opening and at the side of the bit line, respectively, so as to optimize the device property.

  • Patent number: 6212735
Abstract: An apparatus for use with hinged members is provided. The apparatus is an elastomeric member affixed to hinged members on opposing sides of a longitudinal axis of rotation. The elastomeric member is affixed in a stretched state to facilitate the resilient return of the hinged members to a closed position. The elastomeric member occupies substantially the entire length of the hinge area. The elastomeric member bridges the hinge area between the two hinged members. Thus, the hinge area is protected against the entrance of stray wires or materials.

  • Patent number: 6214894
Abstract: The invention relates to polymer blends which can be used both in foamed and unfoamed states as a replacement for conventional EPDM and other elastomers. The composition of the blend includes a single-site catalyzed polyolefin resin having a density of below 0.878 g cm−3 and up to 40 weight percent a polyolefin including ethylene and propylene. The polymer blend is cross-linked. The polymer blends are formable and foamable. The use of sulfur to vulcanize the polymer blend is not necessary. The polymer blends can be used to make foam for floatation or for making gaskets.

  • Patent number: 6214709
Abstract: A method of fabricating salicide. A metal layer is formed on a substrate with a polysilicon gate and a source/drain region. A material layer is then formed on the metal layer, wherein the material is selected to produce compressive stress as compressive stress is produced on the substrate and to produce tensile stress as tensile stress is produced in the substrate. The material layer needs to be chosen with the same stress produced by the metal layer. A thermal process is then performed on the substrate to form a silicide on the polysilicon gate and the source/drain region. The material layer and the unreacted metal layer are removed and therefore the salicide process is accomplished.

  • Patent number: 6213526
Abstract: A school bus crossing or a mounting system that more fully integrates the crossing arm and the bumper. To achieve this, the primary mounting brackets for the crossing arm drive system may be mounted to the bus chassis and an opening is formed in the bumper itself. The crossing arm is mounted to the drive system such that the arm projects through the opening in the bumper. Alternatively, the primary mounting brackets may be mounted to an inner surface of the bumper. A recess may be formed into an outer surface of the bumper such that the crossing arm is at least partially tucked into the recess when retracted. In one embodiment, there is no recess in the bumper. The crossing arm is contoured to follow the outer surface of the bumper.

  • Patent number: 6215400
Abstract: An electronic security tag system comprising a security anchor having an aperture therethrough and a plurality of flexible wings extending outward. There is an adhesive layer attached to the bottom surface of the anchor for adhering the anchor to the article. A security wire is threaded through the aperture in the anchor and is held securely within the aperture of the anchor. A PC board having a diode is connected to an end of the security wire threaded through the aperture. A flexible adhesive tag is connected to the PC board. The tag has a circuit wired therethrough which is connected via the PC board to the diode. The security wire is connected to an electronic security monitoring system having an audible alarm. Cutting the security wire or the circuit in the tag triggers the alarm.

  • Patent number: 6214741
Abstract: A method of fabricating a bit line of a flash memory. A silicon-on-insulator (SOI) has a buried oxide layer therein and a silicon layer thereon. A patterned hard mask layer is formed on the silicon layer. The exposed silicon layer and the buried oxide layer thereunder are removed to form a bit line opening while using the hard mask layer as a mask. A conformal lightly doped polysilicon layer is formed over the substrate. A heavily doped polysilicon layer is formed over the substrate and filling the bit line opening. The lightly doped polysilicon layer and the heavily doped polysilicon layer are removed until arriving at the silicon layer to form a bit line. The hard mask layer is then removed.

  • Patent number: 6216162
Abstract: A method of creating a user defined alias for a targeted shared resource in heterogeneous server network. The method begins in response to a request by a systems administrator to create an alias at the central server for a targeted shared resource. A determination of the type of targeted server is made. An appropriate request to create or access a directory or resource is created and defined in a central server. Once created in the central server the alias may be updated or deleted by the user on any managed server within a heterogeneous server domain.

  • Patent number: 6216231
Abstract: A recent secure authentication service enforcing revocation in distributed systems is provided. Authenticity entities impose freshness constraints, derived from initial policy assumptions and authentic statements made by trusted intermediaries, in authenticated statements made by intermediaries. If freshness constraints are not presented, authentication is questionable. The freshness constraints can be adjusted. The delay for revocation can be arbitrarily bounded. The freshness constraints within certificates results in a secure and highly available revocation service such that less trust is required of the service.
