Abstract: In an apparatus and method for chilling or freezing objects, an interior surface of a rotating drum includes recesses formed between prominences extending inwardly from the interior surface. One or more liquid CO2 nozzles inject solid CO2 towards the interior surface. The injected snow replenishes a depth of solid CO2 in empty or partially empty recesses and/or provides a fresh layer of solid CO2 on top of the objects. Because the interior surface is made of polyethylene and the depth of solid CO2 is replenished in empty or partially empty recesses, the product/drum sticking problem experienced by conventional apparatuses and methods is reduced or avoided. Optionally, the CO2 snow is injected into empty or partially empty recesses by at least one first liquid CO2 nozzle and is deposited on top of the objects by at least one second liquid CO2 nozzle so that each opposing surface of the object is in direct contact with solid CO2.

  • Publication number: 20130289879
Abstract: The application discloses a process and apparatus for characterising the evolution of a reservoir by co-analyzing the changes in the propagation times and seismic amplitudes of seismic reflections. The method comprising the steps of: providing a base survey of the reservoir with a set of seismic traces at a first time; and providing a monitor survey of the reservoir, taken at a second time, with a set of seismic traces associated to the same positions as in the base survey. The evolution of the reservoir is then characterised by inversion to obtain an estimate of the changes having occurred in the time interval between base and monitor surveys, the inversion being performed using at least some seismic traces for which no assumption is made that the energy is propagating vertically. In a main embodiment, inversion is performed by minimising a function which includes a term dependent on the incident angle of the seismic reflections.

Abstract: A generator (5) for a wind turbine (1) is disclosed. The generator (5) comprises a rotor (3) configured to rotate about a rotational axis, and at least one stator (4) arranged next to the rotor (3). Each stator (4) comprises at least two subunits (8), the subunits (8) being arranged side-by-side along a moving direction of the rotor (3). Each subunit (8) comprises at least one flux-generating module (9) facing the rotor (3) but spaced therefrom, thereby defining an air gap between the rotor (3) and each flux-generating module (9). The subunits (8) are movable relative to each other along a direction which is substantially transverse to the moving direction of the rotor (3). This allows a subunit (8) to move in a manner which adjusts the air gap without affecting the position and the air gap of a neighbouring subunit (8). Thereby variations in the rotor (3) can be compensated and a uniform and constant air gap can be maintained.
