Abstract: A tire tread is provided having a layered design that includes bridged and unbridged circumferential grooves during earlier stages of tread life while transverse and unbridged circumferential grooves are provided at later stages of tread life. Together, the combination of grooves can provide desired wet adherence performance without unacceptable compromises of tread wear and/or rolling resistance. Pockets can also be provided at the end of the transverse grooves to increase the volume available for receipt of water during wet traction.

Abstract: An effective composition is for the therapeutic or cosmetic treatment of atrophic cutaneous and subcutaneous tissues, skin appendages, connective tissues or mucous tissues. The composition includes a combination of a salt of adamantane carboxylic acid, preferably salified with an aromatic and/or adamantane base, with a proteolytic enzyme and/or willow extract, salicylic acid, acetylsalicylic acid, salicylate, or acetylsalicylate. Further active ingredients that are suitable for inclusion in the composition are zinc oxide, vitamins, phytoextracts, sugars, amino acids, minerals, further salts, phytoextracts, ventilated green clay and any combination thereof. The composition has a particular synergy between the constituent elements, and is particularly effective in the treatment of atrophic ulcers or bedsores.

Abstract: Process for the production of lipids from biomass comprising polysaccharides. The biomass is subjected to acid hydrolysis to obtain a solid phase and an aqueous phase. The solid phase is subjected to acid or to enzymatic hydrolysis obtaining a further solid phase and a further aqueous phase. The aqueous phases obtained from both hydrolysis steps are subjected to fermentation with an oleaginous yeast. The obtained fermentation broth comprises oleaginous cellular biomass which is subjected to microfiltration for the isolation of lipids. Said lipids can be used in the production of biodiesel or green diesel.

Abstract: There is provided a computer vision based method for extracting features relating to the developmental stages of Trichuris spp. eggs, wherein for the final developmental stages a larva is present inside the egg, said Trichuris spp. eggs having a substantially oblong or elliptical shape with a protruding polar plug at each end, the shape of the Trichuris spp. eggs thereby defining a longitudinal direction and a transverse direction of the eggs.

Abstract: The invention relates to glycan arrays with quantified levels of glycan expression and a method for fabricating thereof. The method comprises quantitatively reacting an ?-aminoalkylglycan with an activated polymer of an acrylic acid derivative to obtain glycoconjugated polymer or copolymer and covalently attaching the (co)polymer to a functionalized substrate. The glycan arrays according to the invention comprise an co-aminoalkylglycan covalently attached to a functionalized substrate via a fluorescently labeled (co)polymer of an acrylic acid derivative. The copolymer of an acrylic acid derivative may comprise fluorescein cadaverine as a fluorescent label or lysine or aminated PEG. The functionalized substrate is selected from an epoxylated and aminated glass or plastic. The invention also provides a fluorescently labeled co-aminoalkylglycan conjugated polymer of an acrylic acid derivative for use in the fabrication of glycan arrays.
