  • Patent number: 8346170
Abstract: Apparatus, which has a multilayer protocol stack for processing incoming messages, determines PTT state from messages received from a peripheral over a wireless serial communication channel. The apparatus: receives (902), from the peripheral, a sequence of messages comprising a plurality of data messages (e.g., RFCOMM messages), wherein each of the data messages provides an indication of a PTT state for the apparatus, and wherein the sequence of data messages is received over a short range wireless data path for exchanging priority data that comprises a wireless serial communication channel and that is different from a short range wireless data path for exchanging non-priority data. A pattern detector in the apparatus performs (904) a pattern matching process, within the first two layers of the multilayer protocol stack, to determine the PTT state indicated by each of the data messages and sets (906) the apparatus to have the determined PTT states.

  • Patent number: 8345288
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a data storage device that stores list data, and a simple object access protocol (SOAP) processor. When a partial-list-data-request message is received from a client apparatus by a communication processor, the SOAP processor generates a response message including a partial list data items that have not been sent among the plurality of partial list data items that are generated by dividing the list data, and causes the communication processor to send the response message to the client apparatus. The client apparatus includes a SOAP processor that causes a communication processor to send the partial-list-data-request message to the image forming apparatus, and that, when the response message including the partial list data item is received from the image forming apparatus by the communication processor, extracts the partial list data item from the response message.

  • Publication number: 20120326924
Abstract: A localization system for a vehicle running on a guideway including portions obscured from satellite view has a number of GNSS receivers placed at strategic locations along the guideway in view of navigation satellites. GNSS transmitters retransmit received GNSS signals along an obscured portion of the guideway. Coded targets are placed at known locations along the guideway. A GNSS receiver on the vehicle picks up GNSS signals directly from the navigation satellites or retransmitted from the GNSS transmitters when on an obscured portion of the guideway. A proximity sensor on the vehicle detects the coded targets. An on-board computer synchronizes the location obtained from the GNSS signals with the location obtained from the proximity sensor. The vehicle is thus able to determine its position even in an obscured portion, such as a tunnel.

Abstract: The present invention automates the operation of multiple malware removal software products using a computerized system that systematically operates the multiple selected software products. These products are operated them in a customized “Safe Mode” using a shell that is different than the computer's other shell environments. Unlike the ordinary Safe Modes shells, the Custom Safe Mode prevents malware from functioning that ties itself to the normal shell, such as the Windows Explorer shell. In addition, the Custom Safe Mode allows the automation of tasks beyond that which is available under the standard command line shell.

  • Publication number: 20120327927
Abstract: The time required for the receiving device to synchronize to a desired timeslot is reduced. In operation, a transmitting device selects a synchronization pattern associated with the desired timeslot that is at least mutually exclusive from synchronization patterns associated with other timeslots on the same frequency in the system. Once selected, the transmitting device transmits a burst embedding the synchronization pattern that was selected, where appropriate. If the receiving device detects the synchronization pattern, it immediately synchronizes with the timeslot with confidence that it is synchronizing to the desired timeslot.

  • Publication number: 20120325981
Abstract: Disclosed is a railway signaling system for controlling a load. In accordance with the teachings of this invention, the system comprises a first autonomous controller and a second autonomous controller which is redundant with the first controller, each controller connectable to the load such that there is no single point of failure. The first and second controllers operable in either an on-line mode wherein both power outputs provide power to the load or an off-line mode wherein a single power output does not provide power to the load. On-line controllers monitor current therethrough. When both controllers are on-line, the current between the two controller is imbalanced up to a threshold limit, if the threshold limit is exceeded by one controller, that controller will go off line, and if the first controller is off-line and the second controller is on-line, the second controller monitors output voltages of the off-line controller to ascertain that the output voltages are zero.
