    Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) display panel is provided. The LED display panel includes a printed circuit board (PCB), a flexible substrate disposed on the PCB, and a pixel array. The flexible substrate has a plurality of holes. The pixel array is formed by a first matrix circuit disposed on the flexible substrate, a second matrix circuit disposed on the PCB, and a plurality of LEDs disposed on the PCB, collectively defining a plurality of pixels. Each of the pixels comprises a corresponding one of the LEDs and pixel circuits formed by the first matrix circuit and the second matrix circuit. A projection of each of the LEDs correspondingly overlaps with a projection of one of the holes on the flexible substrate along an extending direction of the holes. A mosaic LED display panel may be formed by multiple LED display panel butted or tiled together.

Each pixel includes one LED and thin-film transistor (TFT) circuits disposed on a first side of a corresponding flexible back plate. A printed circuit board (PCB) is disposed at a second side of the flexible back plates. A third side of the PCB faces the second side of the flexible back plates and has multiple signal lines formed thereon. The LEDs and the TFT circuits of the pixels are electrically connected to the corresponding signal lines via multiple conductive structures formed in the through holes. A resistance per unit length of each flexible back plates is greater than a resistance per unit length of the PCB.

In the second operational mode, the display panel does not display an image, and an ambient light incident toward the display panel is at least partially reflected by the pattern region of the directional NWGP layer to show a predesigned color pattern.

    Abstract: A large-panel liquid crystal display uses wireless data transmission to provide display data to the pixels arranged in a two-dimensional array of pixel rows and pixel columns in the display area. Pixels are also arranged into pixel groups with each group having a plurality of pixel blocks. Antennas arranged in a two-dimensional array are used to receive wireless signals indicative of the display data from a wireless signal source and to provide display data to the pixels. Each antenna is connected to a different data line in a pixel group for providing display data to the pixel group. Antennas are embedded in the electronic layers on upper surface of the lower substrate and the wireless signal source is embedded in the backlight unit of the display. With wireless data transmission, data lines can be confined within the display area and not connected to conventional semiconductor data drivers.

The re-emitted red light is provided to a red sub-pixel to be filtered by a red color filter, and the re-emitting green light is provided to a green sub-pixel to be filtered by a green color filter. The excitation light can be blue or ultra violet and part of the excitation light is provided to a blue sub-pixel. The polarizing layer can be a reflective polarizing layer and the optical film can be a wavelength selecting layer. The light re-emitting layer may contain scattering particles to diffuse the excitation light provided to a blue sub-pixel.

Each of the masking elements is broader than the corresponding bordering area on the TFT substrate. The light directing elements with reflective surfaces are used to condense part of the light beam transmitted through a pixel area so as to reduce the beam width of the light beam as it reaches the corresponding aperture. The light directing elements can be located on the CF substrate or the TFT substrate.
