Abstract: A pump-storage power plant, such as an electric unit, for this purpose can include a rotating electric synchronous machine and a frequency converter as well as a method for operating the electric unit. An exemplary method provides that the frequency converter is used to start the turbine and an output of the electric machine is fed directly into the current network after start-up, for example. Another exemplary method provides that the frequency converter is used to start the pump and the pump is started directly from rest and under load of a flooded pump or a water column, for example. Another exemplary method provides that the electric machine is synchronised with a frequency of the current network and is operated synchronously with the current network independent of the operating state of the pump or the turbine and supplies active power and reactive power.

  • Publication number: 20150042003
Abstract: A method for injection molding of thermoplastic pole parts utilizes a mold to fix at least one vacuum interrupter and contact terminals during a molding process. At least one injection opening or gate for injection of thermoplastic material is formed into the mold. The mold is applied with multiple injection openings at least along its long axis, for injection of hot thermoplastic material, and the injection openings or gates can be steered in such a way that they inject thermoplastic material simultaneously or with a defined time dependent injection pattern. This process alleviates the issue of a pressure gradient along the long axis of the molded pole part, shortens process times, and achieves a homogenous dissipation of material during the molding process.

  • Patent number: 8952257
Abstract: An electrical conductor carries a rated current in a high-current bushing of a transformer. The electrical conductor includes a conductor piece which extends along an axis and has a cylindrical envelope surface, a first electrical connection, and a second electrical connection. The first electrical connection has two contact surfaces which are aligned parallel to one another. Electrical losses of the electrical conductor are kept low, with a compact design. This is achieved, in part, because the second electrical connection is connected without a joint to the conductor piece, and the first electrical connection is hollow and, at right angles to the axis, has an oval profile with two longitudinal faces which form the two contact surfaces.

  • Patent number: 8947843
Abstract: A breaker failure detection device for a direct current (DC) circuit breaker (200) is provided. The circuit breaker comprises a circuit breaking element (204) and a non-linear resistor, e.g., a surge arrester (205), connected in parallel. The breaker failure detection device comprises a current sensor (212, 213, 214, 215), for measuring a current commutating from the circuit breaking element (204), and a breaker failure detection unit (211). The breaker failure detection unit (211) is arranged for comparing the measured current to desired values and deciding that an internal commutation process of the circuit breaker (200) does not proceed as desired if the measured current deviates from the desired values. The present invention makes use of an understanding that an improved detection of breaker failures may be achieved by monitoring the internal commutation process of the circuit breaker. Further, a method of breaker failure detection is provided.
