  • Patent number: 7642501
Abstract: A portable, handheld artificial light detector distinguishes artificial light from sunlight and identifies low-frequency artificial light from high-frequency artificial light. Artificial light includes light from a lamp powered by an AC source. Low frequency light includes, for example, light produced by a magnetic luminaire ballast, while high frequency light includes light produced by an electronic luminaire ballast.

  • Patent number: 7621656
Abstract: A lamp fixture includes a housing with a high voltage end lamp socket therein. A fluorescent lamp extends from the socket. A heater is at the fluorescent lamp at the high voltage end lamp socket and is adjacent to. The heater includes a plate radiator which is attached to the outside of the light reflector and a thermostat. The thermostat is hooked to the line voltage to the fixture. A substantially clear heat reflector extends partially around the fluorescent lamp and, with the heater, substantially encloses circumferentially the fluorescent lamp at the high voltage end lamp socket. The reflector is pivotally mounted relative to the fluorescent lamp to allow retraction of the heat reflector for placement of the fluorescent lamp. A light reflector extends partially around the fluorescent lamp.

  • Patent number: 7622701
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention provide a cupola and photocontrol receptacle assembly that allows a user to adjust the direction of the cupola base and the photocontrol receptacle simultaneously without using tools. A fixture housing may have an opening for receiving a photocontrol receptacle connection member and one or more ribs located in proximity to the fixture housing opening. A cupola base may include an opening for receiving the connection member and features adapted to detachably engaged the fixture housing ribs. In addition, a spring may be coupled to the connection member and configured to allow the photocontrol receptacle to move in a first direction upon the application of a force in the first direction and recoil when the force is removed or decreased.

  • Patent number: 7614767
Abstract: The present invention provides systems and apparatuses for dynamically controlling the operational modes of a single luminaire or a group of networked luminaires configured to deliver an illumination pattern having a decorative colored glow surrounding a central region of substantially uniform brightness. A control module for the luminaire is configured to drive three dimmable fluorescent ballasts, as well as a LED module. A variety of operational modes including different schemes for color mixing and color cycle control can be selected by a user and implemented by a microcontroller. A group of luminaires is connected in a standard communication protocol-based master-slave configuration, where the slave units respond to commands received from the master unit, and the last slave unit automatically engages terminating and biasing resistors for proper operation of the network.

  • Patent number: 7603184
Abstract: A light management system having networked intelligent luminaire managers. A plurality of networked luminaire managers, each collocated with a respective luminaire, monitor the status of their respective luminaires. The luminaire managers include transmitters for transmitting status information about their respective luminaires such as, for example, a lamp out condition upon occurrence of such a lamp out condition, to a network server. The network server forwards the received status information from the networked luminaire managers to a computer of an owner/operator of the plurality of luminaires. The luminaire managers communicate with each other, whereby they form a network.

  • Patent number: 7585088
Abstract: A fluorescent lamp fixture includes a housing (10), an elongate reflector (30) on one side of the housing (10) with two sets of fluorescent lamp sockets (24, 26) extending from the reflector (30) and a refracting lens (52) extending over the reflector (30) and fluorescent lamp sockets (24, 26). A second reflector (44) is positioned to extend across and face the first reflector (30) with two fluorescent lamps (28) mounted between the two reflectors (30, 44). The second reflector (44) includes reflective longitudinal surfaces (46, 48) on either side of the reflector (44) to reflect light from the adjacent fluorescent lamps (28) laterally thereof. The principal reflector (30) is a diffuse reflector while the second reflector (44) is a specular reflector. The specular reflector (44) is mounted to the refracting lens (52).
