Abstract: A system, method and article of manufacture are provided for identifying various components of a system for building, management, and support purposes. A pictorial representation of an existing system is first displayed along with a plurality of components thereof. Next, information is presented relating to building, managing, and supporting the components of the existing system by indicia coding the components on the pictorial representation. The building, management, and support information relates more specifically to deliverable features of the components of the existing system that are available in a business offering.

Abstract: A system, method and article of manufacture are provided for a knowledgebase framework. Information is obtained from at least one source utilizing a network. Utilizing a knowledge model, an index is generated for the obtained information. The generated index includes a plurality of items each associated with at least some of the obtained information. Utilizing the network, the generated index is displayed to a user. The user is permitted to select an least one of the items of the index. The information associated with the selected item is then displayed to the user utilizing the network.

Abstract: Enhanced delivery of services are provided through a wireless mobile device and one or more location service channels, preferably at the direction of the user of the mobile device requesting the desired service through common context-based user interfaces. The mobile device communicates with local and remote service providers. The context is determined by accessing information in the user profile, by sensors on the mobile device identifying items of interest, or by identifying the location of the mobile device. An aggregator server maintains a registry of location service channels and manages the access to the channels by the mobile device users and the service providers.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for maintaining a security profile throughout nested service invocations on a distributed component-based system. Interconnections are provided between distributed components each having nested service invocations. A user context instance is created upon successful identification of the user. A request is received from the user to invoke a first service on a first component, wherein the first component invokes a second service of a second component, and wherein completion of the second service is necessary to complete the first service. The user context is queried for a unique user identifier. The unique user identifier is compared with an access control list for verifying that the user has access to the first component. The unique user identifier is also compared with an access control list for verifying that the user has access to the second service of the second component.

Abstract: A system is disclosed that provides a goal based learning system utilizing a rule based expert training system to provide a cognitive educational experience. The system provides the user with a simulated environment that presents a business opportunity to understand and solve optimally. Mistakes are noted and remedial educational material presented dynamically to build the necessary skills that a user requires for success in the business endeavor. The system utilizes an artificial intelligence engine driving individualized and dynamic feedback with synchronized video and graphics used to simulate real-world environment and interactions. Multiple “correct” answers are integrated into the learning system to allow individualized learning experiences in which navigation through the system is at a pace controlled by the learner.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and system for providing location-based services to a remote terminal that is connected to various types of communication systems. A tailored request for information is generated with the remote terminal. In addition, a geographic indicator associated with the remote terminal is also generated in the preferred embodiment. The tailored request for information and the geographic indicator are transmitted to a location-based application server. A structured response to the tailored request for information is generated with the location-based application server, wherein the structured response is based on the geographic indicator of the remote terminal. The structured response is the transmitted to the remote terminal using one of several different types of communication protocols and/or mediums.

Abstract: Analyzing employees based on results of an education business simulation. A network is utilized to present a training simulation to a user for achieving a training goal. Information is integrated into the training simulated utilizing the network that helps motivate achievement of the goal by the user. Progress of the user towards achieving the goal is measured utilizing the network. For further motivating achievement of the goal, feedback is also provided to the user utilizing the network. There are three levels of feedback, where each is progressively more detailed and is selected based on the number of mistakes made by the user, the user's progress towards the goal is subsequently reported to the employer of the user utilizing the network.

Abstract: A system, method and article of manufacture are provided for affording synchronization in an automated scripting framework. First, script data is received utilizing a language-driven interface. Then, reports having user readable sentences are created based on the received script data. The received script data is then translated into automation code. Finally, automated testing is provided utilizing the automation code.

Abstract: To test the functionality of a computer system, automated testing may use an automation testing tool that emulates user interactions. A database may store words each having a colloquial meaning that is understood by a general population. For each of these words, the database may store associated computer instructions that can be executed to cause a computer to perform the function that is related to the meaning of the word. During testing, a word may be received having a colloquial meaning that is understood by a general population. The database may be queried for the received word and the set of computer instructions may be returned by the database. The automated testing tool may then perform the function returned to the colloquial meaning of the word. The words stored in the database may be in English or another language.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for improving an existing application infrastructure of an application service provider. First, a user is prompted to identify at least one aspect of an existing application infrastructure of an application service provider utilizing a network. Next, the identification of the aspect of the existing application infrastructure is received utilizing the network, and the aspect is translated into a common structure such that the structure is stored in a knowledge base. Such common structure is subsequently analyzed using a spreadsheet stored in a database, and the spreadsheet includes predefined rules that are used to identify upgrades to the existing applications infrastructure. Further, upgrades the existing application infrastructure are suggested and displayed based on the analysis utilizing the network.

A search for data relating to the request for information is performed in at least two geographically separated information repositories of an enterprise. The results of the search are presented to the user. The user is allowed to select a search result from the results of the search. A search result that is selected by the user is recognized. A chart that illustrates information related to the search result selected by the user is generated and displayed.

Abstract: A system, method and article of manufacture are provided for integrating a personalizable diary with an information page having a link to the diary. The information page is first displayed. Upon selection of the link to the diary by a user, the diary is displayed. User input for adding entries in the diary is received and selection of the entries for display on the information page is also allowed.

Abstract: A base services architecture for a netcentric computing system is disclosed. The base services architecture includes at least one web server that is connected with an Internet connection and at least one client. A web server service is located on the web server. During operation, the web server service enables the web server to transfer and publish a plurality of documents in the web browser on the client. A push/pull service is located on the web server for automatically notifying members of a subscriber list of the netcentric computing system when a particular piece of information has been changed or updated. A workflow service is located on the web server that includes role management service, route management services, rule management services and queue management services.

Abstract: A method and system for providing advertising effectiveness searching capabilities, predictive modeling capabilities and usage mining in a location-based services system is disclosed. During operation of the location-based services system, usage information for advertising campaigns placed on the location-based services system is stored. Advertisers are provided with the ability to enter a search request form on a remote terminal to mine the usage information. The search request is then transmitted to an application that searches usage information to generate a response to said search request.

Abstract: An agent based system assists in preparing an individual for an upcoming meeting by helping him/her retrieve relevant information about the meeting from various sources based on preexisting information in the system. The system obtains input text in character form indicative of the target meeting from a calendar program that includes the time of the meeting. As the time of the meeting approaches, the calendar program is queried to obtain the text of the target event and that information is utilized as input to the agent system. Then, the agent system parses the input meeting text to extract its various components such as title, body, participants, location, time etc. The system also performs pattern matching to identify particular meeting fields in a meeting text. This information is utilized to query various sources of information on the web and obtain relevant stories about the current meeting to send back to the calendaring system.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for interfacing a naming service and a client with the naming service allowing access to a plurality of different sets of services from a plurality of globally addressable interfaces. As a result of the calls, proxies are generated based on the received locations of the global addressable interfaces. The proxies are received in an allocation queue where the proxies are then allocated in a proxy pool, wherein an allocation thread runs on the allocation queue and makes calls to the naming service and the allocation queue replenishes the proxy pool with the proxies. Access to the proxies in the proxy pool is allowed for identifying the location of one of the global addressable interfaces in response to a request received from the client.

Also included is at least one local input device coupled to the host computer for retrieving the remote data within the host computer. Data relating to the user request is searched for in at least two geographically separated information repositories. The results of the search are presented to the user. The user is allowed to browse through additional data of the information repositories. Links between data items and other data entries in the information repositories are created according to relationships the data items have to the other data entries.

Abstract: A system, method and article of manufacture are provided for affording an operations architecture to implement a local service activation management system. First, a physical environment is provided for supporting a local service activation management system. The physical environment is managed with managing hardware which is in turn supported by support infrastructure. Further, a common integration platform is implemented. In use, operation management procedures are executed such as disaster recovery, scheduled maintenance, roll outs and release, production control, toolset procedures, service level agreement generation, operations level agreement generation, and service level reporting.
