Abstract: A smart grid for improving the management of a power utility grid is provided. The smart grid as presently disclosed includes using sensors in various portions of the power utility grid, using communications and computing technology to upgrade an electric power grid so that it can operate more efficiently and reliably and support additional services to consumers. The smart grid may include distributed intelligence in the power utility grid (separate from the control center intelligence) including devices that generate data in different sections of the grid, analyze the generated data, and automatically modify the operation of a section of the power grid. Further, the intelligent devices in the power utility grid may cooperate together to analyze and/or control the state of the power grid. Finally, the distributed intelligence may further include distributed storage.

Abstract: As a company expands its businesses to include digital products and services in addition to more traditional telecommunications and media offerings, digital consumption data may be used along with telecommunications consumption data and other customer-centric information in order to create a more comprehensive data model and make better predictions. A customer-centric data model identifies entities with data from diverse locations and product sectors associated with a single customer. Customer analytic records aggregate existing data into base variables and store it for each customer along with additional variables generated by performing calculations on exiting data. Both the data model and the customer analytic records can be used by the company to make more accurate business and marketing decisions.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a computer network that provides secure authentication. The computer network comprises a server operable to generate a token comprising identification information; a first device to be authenticated, the first device being operable to receive the token; a second device associated with a trusted identifier, the second device being operable to retrieve the token from the first device and associate the token with the trusted identifier to authenticate the first device at the server.

Abstract: According to an example, event anomaly analysis and prediction may include accessing a master directed graph that specifies known events and transitions between the known events, and ranking each of the known events. Each of the ranked known events may be clustered into a plurality of anomaly categories. A plurality of rules to analyze new events may be determined based on the plurality of anomaly categories. A determination may be made, based on an application of the plurality of rules to data that is to be analyzed for an anomaly, whether the data includes the anomaly. In response to a determination that the data includes the anomaly, a device associated with the data may be controlled.

Abstract: A performance optimization system includes a superior performance engine identifying high performance entities and determining benchmarks from data captured for the high performance entities. The benchmarks correspond with factors in the indices. The indices include a growth index, an operational excellence index, and an enterprise management index. A data capture module captures data related to the factors for an entity. An optimization engine determines values for the factors from the data captured for the entity, and compares the values with the benchmarks to identify underachieving factors. Estimated performance for the entity is calculated based on modifications to the underachieving factors.
