Abstract: A stapler configured such that the stapler can be used both as a desktop-type stapler and as a hand-held stapler. The stapler includes a base, a staple magazine pivotably coupled to the base, a cover assembly coupled to the base, and a staple driver coupled to the cover assembly. The base includes a front end, a rear end, a top surface, and a bottom surface. The bottom surface includes a first flat portion near the front end of the base, a second flat portion near the rear end of the base, and a recess positioned between the first and second flat portions such that the flat portions and the recess together extend along the entirety of the base length. The recess includes a curved portion that extends across the width of the stapler base and is raised upwardly from a plane defined by the flat portions along the entire length between the first and second flat portions.

Abstract: A stapler including a base having a first end, a second end, and opposite sides. A staple magazine is connected to the base for movement with respect to the base during stapling operations. A cover assembly is connected to the base. The first end of the base includes first and second hip portions such that the staple magazine and cover assembly are received within the hip portions. In some embodiments, the hip portions each include a cutout portion. In other embodiments, the hip portions each include a rib extending inwardly toward the magazine.

Abstract: A stapler assembly includes a base and a stapler coupled to the base. An inductive power supply system cooperates between the base and the stapler to supply power from the base to the stapler. The stapler can be movable with respect to the base between a first position, wherein the stapler has a first orientation with respect to the base, and a second position, wherein the stapler has a second orientation with respect to the base. The base preferably includes a holster configured to receive the stapler. The holster is pivotable to move the stapler between the first and second positions. The inductive power supply system eliminates the need for physical electrical connections between the stapler and the base.

Abstract: A security device for use with a security aperture is disclosed. The security device includes an engagement member capable of being in a locked position or an unlocked position, a spacer, a locking mechanism adapted to maintain the locked position of the engagement member, and a housing disposed around the locking mechanism, where the housing is adapted to rotate substantially independently of the engagement member when the spacer is in the locked position.

Abstract: A security device is disclosed. The security device includes a casing including a front opening. A securing member is coupled to the casing. A movable locking member extends outward when the security device is in a locked configuration and is retracted inward when the security device is in an unlocked configuration. A locking mechanism in the security device can keep the movable locking member in the locked configuration. A button passing through the casing can be depressed or otherwise moved to cause the movable locking member to retract, to thereby put the security device in an unlocked configuration.

Abstract: A stapler includes a base, a staple storage chamber coupled with the base, a staple pusher assembly positioned at least partially in the staple storage chamber, and a low staple indicator distinct from the staple pusher assembly and movable between a first position indicating the presence of a staple at a location in the staple storage chamber and a second position indicating the absence of a staple at the location in the storage chamber.

Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for reconfiguring an ID code associated with a receiver to enable a receiver to respond to data packets tagged with the ID code sent from a desired transmitter. The system includes a transmitter, selectively responsive to an enable command, for broadcasting a data packet at a first power level when the enable command is asserted, the data packet including an ID code, the transmitter broadcasting an ID configuration command having a configuration ID code at a second power level less than the first power level when the enable signal is deasserted.

Abstract: A stapler apparatus includes a cartridge that stores staples, a staple driving unit for engaging and driving staples, an urging member to urge the cartridge toward the staple driving unit, and an interlocking mechanism movable upon installation of the cartridge to apply the urging member to the cartridge. The construction provides a stapler apparatus that allows the easy mounting of a cartridge and that can effectively urge a cartridge toward the punching station of the stapler.

Abstract: A ring mechanism includes a chassis and a hinge blade coupled to the chassis. An actuator coupled to the chassis moves the hinge blade between a first position and a second position. A ring half coupled to the hinge blade is positioned in a closed position when the hinge blade is in the first position, and an open position when the hinge blade is in the second position. A dampening member is positioned at least partially between the inner surface of the chassis and the actuator to prevent at least a portion of the actuator from directly engaging the inner surface of the chassis during movement of the actuator between the first and second positions. A locked state indicator indicates to the user whether the ring mechanism is in a locked position or an unlocked position. The dampening member can function as the lock state indicator and vice versa.
