Abstract: A binder mechanism comprises a pair of prong plates pivotally connected by a retainer spring to toggle between a first raised position and a second lowered position. The prong plates include a plurality of ring segments affixed to the prong plates that are capable of forming loops. A cam mechanism is used to toggle the prong plates between the raised and lowered positions causing the ring segments to open or to close to form loops. The cam mechanism is preferably a slider located above the prong plates, the slider having ramps inserted through recesses between the prong plates. Preferably, the recesses are located adjacent to where the ring segments are attached to the prong plates. Cleats may hold the parts of the binder mechanism together and keep the mechanism attached to a binder assembly. Preferably, the retainer spring is in the form of a top spring covering both the slider and prong plates.

Abstract: A sheet lifter for use with a ring-binder for storing loose-leaf pages having a substantially flat base portion with first and second lateral sides. The base portion further includes at least one aperture located between the first and second sides for receiving and mounting to the rings of the binder. An end portion is connected to the base portion and is configured to extend beyond the pages stored in the ring-binder when the sheet lifter is engaged by the rings of the binder. The two sides are connected to the end portion and are non-parallel with respect to each other.

Abstract: A folder that has a spine that is hinged to two covers. The preferred covers have a convex portion that extends around a binding mechanism over most of the distance of that the binding mechanism protrudes inwardly from the spine. support portion that extends outwardly with respect to a portion of the cover pivotably attached to the spine. A concave portion is located adjacent the convex portion towards the free end of the binder. The preferred folder portion of the binder has projections that are deformed through openings in the binding mechanism to secure the binding mechanism to the folder. A preferred cover has an arcuate cross-section extending parallel to the hinges.

Abstract: A binder insert with a folder portion and a clip. The folder portion defines at least one ring aperture configured and dimensioned to receive and mount to rings of a binder. The folder portion also has a first sheet defining a clip-mounting aperture and a second sheet facing the first sheet. The clip includes first and second clip portions resiliently biased toward each other. The clip is mounted to the first sheet through the clip-mounting aperture, and the first and second clip portions are disposed in a clamping position on the exterior of the first and second sheets and compressively engaged against the sheets to bias them against each other.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a hand held stapler which can be used for joining sets of different numbers of paper sheets. The stapler has a stapling arm with a lever which extend past a pivot position by a length greater than the magazine of the stapler by an amount sufficient to provide a substantially increased leverage for driving staples during the stapling operation.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a sheet holder, a first panel defining a first window having a first window area, and a second panel defining a second window having a second window area. The first and second panels are joined by at least one hinge, such that the first and second panels are foldable about the hinge to a folded position with the first panel disposed over the second panel. In the folded position, the first and second windows are in overlap with each other such that the first window area overlaps substantially less than the entire second window area.

Abstract: A hanging data binder is provided for a stack of paper. The stack of paper is contained between two end pieces that secure the flexible posts passing through the stack. The end pieces include retractable hooks that serve to secure the flexible posts and provide hooks for the hanging data binder. The retractable hooks are slid outwardly to release the flexible posts and inwardly to store the hooks.

Abstract: A folder that has a spine that is hinged to two covers. At least one of the covers has a support portion that extends outwardly with respect to a portion of the cover pivotably attached to the spine. The support portion is located between the hinged portion and another portion disposed opposite therefrom.

Abstract: A file that has a back panel and a front panel. A retractable member is associated with the front and back panels. The retractable member is retractable to between sides of the panels and is extendable beyond edges of the panels. The retractable member is preferably attachable to a binder, and expandable gussets connect the front and back panels.

Abstract: A device for fastening to equipment subject to theft and having an outer shell provided with a security slot. The device is inserted in the security slot located in the shell of the equipment. The device includes two similarly-shaped, mirror-imaged insert members having a hooked tang protruding therefrom. The tangs are inserted through the security slot so that the hooks grip the inside surface of the equipment shell proximate the security slot, and the insert members are mated in juxtaposition. The insert members further include a cylindrical portion, that, when juxtaposed, creates a channel through which a cable or padlock may be passed to hold the insert members together. The device may include a sleeve to slidably cover the insert members.

Abstract: The system includes multiple components that may be used individually, or in conjunction with other components of the system, including a copy holder, paper organizer and a monitor-mounted copy holder. The copy holder/stand accommodates a variety of paper sizes in either portrait or landscape orientation. The copy stand includes a base stand and a removable copy holder, thus allowing the copy holder to be used as a clip board. The copy holder is rotatable about the base stand, thus allowing variation of the relative angle between the user and the copy holder. The copy holder includes at least one clip, and preferably at least two different types of clips. The clips may hold papers and documents against the copy holder as well as provide a means of highlighting or marking regions of particular interest on a document page. The paper organizer may either stand-alone or be held within an opening in the base stand of the copy holder.

Abstract: A portfolio for holding items such as sheets of paper is constructed a single sheet of translucent material having a scored line to act as a hinge and divided the material into front and back covers. The portfolio is provided with at least three pockets constructed of transparent material welded onto the portfolio. Two of the pockets are provided on the interior of the front and back covers for retaining sheets of paper, and a third pocket is provided on the exterior surface of the front cover for holding a sheet of material such as a cover label. The pockets may be provided with cutouts to allow expansion of the pockets and stress relief structures to prevent tearing of the pockets upon repeated insertion and removal of items from the pockets. The portfolio also includes a plurality of holes for attachment in a ringed binder and slits running from the holes to the hinge to permit insertion of the portfolio into the binder without opening the rings.
