Abstract: A powered stapler includes a housing having a first housing portion and a second housing portion movably coupled to the first portion. The stapler is actuated by creating relative movement between the first and second housing portions. The second housing portion includes an elongated trigger member, that when moved relative to the first housing portion, actuates the powered stapler to drive a staple into a stack of sheets. The stapler is configured to be held in a single hand of the user and can be actuated by the user squeezing his or her hand while holding the stapler.

Abstract: A security system is disclosed. Embodiments of the system comprise a key containing a unique identifier, and a security device capable of reading the unique identifier from the key. In certain embodiments the unique identifier is stored on an integrated circuit within the key along with a power supply for the security device. Use of the proper key can initiate the locking or unlocking of the security device, through actuating means.

Abstract: A paper tool includes a base having a front end and a rear end and a drive arm pivotally coupled to the base about a first pivot axis. The drive arm includes a front portion proximate the front end of the base and a rear portion proximate the rear end of the base. The stapler also includes a handle pivotally coupled to the base and a drive member supported by the handle rearwardly of the first pivot axis such that, when the handle pivots relative to the base, the drive member engages the rear portion of the drive arm to pivot the drive arm about the first pivot axis.

Abstract: A punch includes a base and a chip cartridge that is movably coupled to the base. The chip cartridge is movable between a first position and a second position relative to the base and defines a chamber that is configured to receive and hold chips produced during a punching operation. The chip cartridge includes a chip receiving portion that is configured to receive chips created during the punching operation and to permit entry of the chips into the chamber while the chip cartridge is in the first position. When the chip cartridge is in the second position, the chip receiving portion provides communication between the chamber and outside the chamber via an area less than or equal to about 200 percent of a surface area of the chip produced by the punch.

Abstract: A stapler including a base having a first end, a second end, and opposite sides. A staple magazine is connected to the base for movement with respect to the base during stapling operations. A cover assembly is connected to the base. The first end of the base includes first and second hip portions such that the staple magazine and cover assembly are received within the hip portions. In some embodiments, the hip portions each include a cutout portion. In other embodiments, the hip portions each include a rib extending inwardly toward the magazine.

Abstract: A paper processing tool includes a base having a receiving area for selectively receiving a sheet of paper. The tool further includes a first lever having a handle portion, the first lever being pivotable relative to the base about a first axis. An intermediate lever is pivotable relative to the base about a second axis in response to movement of the first lever. At least one cutting element is arranged along a cutting plane, the at least one cutting element being configured to selectively engage the sheet of paper. A drive lever is actuable by the intermediate lever to move the at least one cutting element relative to the base. The drive lever is pivotable relative to the base about a third axis parallel to the cutting plane.

Abstract: A system, apparatus, and method for portable computing systems that simply and efficiently addresses poor ergonomics, heat buildup, and/or electromagnetic radiation, most preferably in one integrated solution. The apparatus includes a unitary blank of a substantially planar rigid sheet material including a plurality of panel portions interdivided by one or more bending line portions, wherein the unitary blank folds along the one or more bending line portions to produce a three-dimensional structure that supports a portable electronic device on at least one the panel portion over a surface at an angle inclined relative to the surface; and a fastening subsystem, coupled to the unitary blank, having a holding mode for maintaining the unitary blank folded in the three-dimensional structure and a release mode for transitioning the three-dimensional structure to a planar structure, the fastening subsystem providing for repeatable transitions between the holding mode and the release mode.

The lock device includes a locking spindle including a plurality of locking spindle bores and a passage extending axially along an axial length of the locking spindle, and a driver structure including a plurality of driver structure bores. An interface between the driver structure and the locking spindle forms a shear line. The lock device also includes a plurality of combination pins in the plurality of locking spindle bores, and a plurality of driver pins in the driver structure bores in the driver structure, the plurality of driver pins being respectively associated with the plurality of combination pins.

Abstract: A stapler movable between a rest position and a stapling position and having a front end and a rear end. The stapler includes a base, a staple magazine coupled to the base and configured to hold staples, and a driver blade operable to drive staples out of the staple magazine during stapling operations. The stapler further includes an elastic member coupled to the driver blade and operable to move the driver blade during stapling operations. The elastic member utilizes potential energy to move the driver blade during stapling operations. The driver blade is positioned above the staple magazine when the stapler is in the rest position and the magazine is extendable from the front end of the stapler to allow a user to load staples in the magazine. The stapler is configured such that only the potential energy of the elastic member can operate the driver blade during stapling operations.

Abstract: A stapler includes a base member, a magazine for receiving a plurality of staples, and a drive member including a driver blade movable relative to the magazine for ejecting staples from the magazine one at a time. The stapler further includes an input member pivotally coupled to the drive member. The input member is configured to receive an input force and transmit the input force to the drive member for driving movement of the drive member relative to the magazine. The stapler further includes means for pivoting one of the drive member and the input member about a pivot axis such that the pivot axis moves relative to the base member along an arcuate path.

Abstract: A security apparatus, a security system that uses the security apparatus, and a method of using the securing apparatus to secure a portable electronic device to an immovable object. The security apparatus comprises a combination locking mechanism with dials and tumblers, a body coupled to the dials, a reset device coupled to the tumblers, and a reset key configured to interact with the reset device to allow the user to reset the combination associated with the combination locking mechanism.
