  • Patent number: 7079032
Abstract: A security device for preventing removal and theft of valuable devices includes an alarm that is coupled to a cable. At a distal end of the cable, a locking device is provided. The locking device is coupled to a valuable device. The other end of the cable is coupled to the alarm. The alarm includes a power source. A lock plate is placed over the power source. The cable is routed through the alarm and through the lock plate prior to coupling the locking device to the portable electronic device. With the cable through the alarm and the lock plate, the lock plate cannot be removed and thus, the power source is inaccessible. A wire loop runs through the cable and is coupled to the alarm such that if the cable is cut, the circuit is broken and the alarm sounds.

  • Publication number: 20060123242
Abstract: A security system configured to secure a portable electronic device is provided. The system includes a biometric device configured to receive a biometric identification from a user. The biometric identification may be received by, for example, scanning a fingerprint or iris of a user. Other biometric identifications may also be appreciated. The biometric device is configured to determine a verification result based on the received biometric identification. The verification may be performed by comparing the received biometric identification with a stored biometric identification for the user. The biometric device may then send a verification result through a wireless connection to a wireless module. The wireless module is then configured to automatically actuate a security device to lock/ unlock the security device to/from the portable electronic device.

  • Patent number: 7044349
Abstract: A staple forming mechanism having at least first and second configurations. The staple forming mechanism including a bend surface having a first surface width in the first configuration and a second surface width in the second configuration for forming staples having first and second crown sizes, respectively. The forming mechanism also includes at least two side portions spaced apart by a first former width in the first configuration and by a second former width in the second configuration. The side portions cooperate with the bend surface to form the staples. A stapler includes the forming mechanism and a driver including a driving surface having a first driver width in the first configuration and a second driver width in the second configuration for driving the staples of the first and second crown sizes into a stack of papers.

  • Patent number: 7036706
Abstract: The present invention is to provide a staple cartridge that can offset any discrepancies when mounting a staple cartridge, even if staples are slightly offset to check the occurrence of stapling defects. The staple cartridge 100 of the holding means 200 which is equivalent to the cartridge holder disposed as either a body separate to the stapler unit 300 or unitized thereto, actuates the staple feeds means 202. Even if the position of the staple pulled out from the staple cartridge is offset, this action corrects the offset to correctly set the staple at the driving position thereby enabling it to check stapling defects that occur because of mis-positioning of the staple set position.

  • Patent number: 7017789
Abstract: A staple storage unit includes return prevention members that prevent a staple positioned for driving from moving back toward the staple storage portion of the staple storage unit. A plurality of staple abutting portions 105a and 105b are spaced along the draw out direction of the staple band 101 at distances where they do not all abut the staple linking portion 105d, thereby increasing the likelihood that at least one of the staple abutting portions will engage the staple linking portion to prevent significant withdrawal of the staple sheet back toward the staple storage portion.

  • Patent number: 7014091
Abstract: A stapler apparatus includes a fixed frame, a movable frame pivotably mounted to the fixed frame, a staple driving device, and a staple bending device to bend the staples. A drive mechanism reciprocally moves the movable frame with respect to the fixed frame to clamp a stack of sheets between the fixed frame and the movable frame. A transmission member is movably supported on the movable frame without any connection utilizing an elongated slot. An urging member is disposed to bias the transmission member with respect to the movable frame, the transmission member being coupled to the drive mechanism such that the drive mechanism engages and moves the transmission member with respect to the movable frame, thereby overcoming the bias of the urging member, to compensate for a stack height of the stack of sheets clamped between the fixed frame and the movable frame.

  • Patent number: 7014084
Abstract: A stapler apparatus of the type using continuous belt-formed staples 200 includes a staple feed claw 25 for advancing the staples 200 sequentially to a stapling position 103, and a drive means 50 for driving the staples 200 drawn to the stapling position 103. A clincher means 40 bends the ends of the staples 200 driven into the sheets and pivots a staple feed pawl 25 interlocked to the staple bending operation of the clincher means 40 for sequentially feeding the staples 200 to the stapling position 103. This construction lightens the load on the drive means to staple sheet stacks, facilitates smooth driving operation of the drive means, and reduces the occurrences of trouble.
