  • Patent number: 6450727
Abstract: An automatic locking apparatus for a movable module in a device uses device's weight and position to lock the movable module. It includes an input unit located on a bottom wall of the device to detect if the device is positioned on a support plane under a normal state, a transfer unit for receiving input from the input unit to generate a response, and an output unit for receiving the response to actuate a lock or unlock action on the movable module. When the input unit detects the device being properly positioned on the support plane, the transfer unit will be triggered to make the output unit disengaged with the movable module for normal operation. When the input unit detects the device being removed from the support plane at an abnormal state, the transfer unit will be triggered to make the output unit locking the movable module inside the device at a selected location.

  • Patent number: 6437675
Abstract: A linear coil for inhibiting acoustic noise is provided. A rubber spacer is disposed in addition to the conventional linear coil. By means of the spacer, the vibration, generated when the deflection current passes through the linear coil, is absorbed. As a result, acoustic noise, caused by the collision between the linear coil and the printed circuit board, can be inhibited.

  • Patent number: 6431541
Abstract: The feeding mechanism for feeding media from an initial site to a predetermined site comprises a base, a scrubber, a deskewer, two feeders, a lifting device having two cam portions, a driving element and a releasing device. The deskewer is moved between a first position and a second position and sets the media located at the initial site. The two feeders are used for transmitting the media located at the initial site toward the predetermined site. The cam portions are used as a lifter to move the deskewer from the first position to the second position. The driving element disposed between the lifting device and the releasing device generates forces to actuate the cam portions to move the deskewer. The releasing device is used as an overload protection clutch connected between the lifting device and the driving element, having a first plate separately contacting the driving element.

  • Patent number: 6417501
Abstract: An image processing system has a memory for storing programs, an unprocessed image and a processor for executing the programs in the memory. The image is a plurality of pixels arranged as a matrix, and each pixel has several color parameters. The image has at least one image region. One of the color parameters is adjusted according to an initial image adjusting value. Then, in one direction of up, down, left or right, the image adjusting value is successively changed by adding a fixed value, or multiplying by a fixed factor. Each successive pixel has its color parameter adjusted by adding the image adjusting value to it. Image adjustment proceeds in this way from the image region to an outer region along the predetermined direction.

  • Patent number: 6416147
Abstract: A printer has a print path disposed along a left-and-right direction, a driving system for moving a print head left or right along the print path, a control circuit for controlling the driving system, and a look-ahead system. The print head is used to perform a printing operation that forms at least one pixel on a media in a print swath. The look-ahead system determines a plurality of different paths that cover at least three print swaths, and computes a print time required by the driving system to cover each path. The look-ahead system then selects a path having the shortest print time, and the control system directs the driving system to follow this path.

  • Patent number: 6416148
Abstract: A printer has a print head for forming a pixel, and a driving system for moving the print head from a first location to a second location. The print head forms the pixel according to a firing signal. The movement of the print head is controlled by a control signal sent to the driving system. The method involves building a list of desired pixel locations, building a calibrated list of firing signal offsets, sending the control signal to trigger movement of the print head, and sending a firing signal to the print head to form a pixel at a predetermined location. The firing signal offsets correspond to the desired pixel locations, and are adjusted to compensate for the driving system. The timing of the firing signal is determined by the timing of the control signal and by a firing signal offset in the calibrated list of firing signal offsets. The firing signal offset adjusts the firing time so that the predetermined location of the pixel is effectively on a corresponding desired pixel location.

  • Patent number: 6412906
Abstract: An ink jet service station has a housing with a right wall and a left wall, and a carriage for holding a wiper. The carriage is moveably installed in the housing, and a scraper is rotatably mounted on the carriage. When the carriage moves to the left wall, the scraper contacts the left wall. • Publication number: 20020071013
Abstract: A pressure-compensation device for ink reservoirs includes an accumulator bag, a resilient element and an air-compensation means. The accumulator bag is installed inside the ink reservoir and provides a duct for air communicating with the atmosphere. While the ink inside the ink reservoir is running off, external air can be led automatically through the duct to inflate the accumulator bag. The resilient element has a lower end to engage with a bottom end of the accumulator bag for stabilizing a back pressure inside the ink reservoir by acting contraction against the inflating of the accumulator bag. While the accumulator bag is expanded to a saturated state, the air-compensation means can introduce automatically external air into the ink reservoir for maintaining the back pressure and thus for avoiding any ink leakage and stalling of the print head.

  • Publication number: 20020067398
Abstract: A pressure-compensation device for adjusting the backpressure inside the cartridge of an ink jet printer includes an accumulator bag, a resilient element, and a motion element. The accumulator bag, installed inside the cartridge, communicates with the external atmosphere through an air duct. The resilient element, kept at a tension state, has a first end connected with the accumulator bag and a second end connected with the motion element. The resilient element restrains the inflation of the accumulator bag so as to induce a backpressure inside the cartridge. The accumulator bag, gradually inflating along with consumption of the ink inside the cartridge, can move the resilient element and the motion element downwards to keep the resilient element at a stable tension state, and thereby a stable backpressure inside the cartridge can be provided.

  • Patent number: 6398340
Abstract: A printing device has a motor that drives an ink jet print head back and forth along a print track. A service station is installed on one end of the print track, and has a first track, a second track, a slot track, and a wipe sled. The wipe sled slides inside a housing of the service station along the first track, in parallel with the print track. The slot track, which is part of the wipe sled, in diagonal to the print track. The second track, mounted on the housing, is perpendicular to print track. A wiper is mounted on both the slot track and the second track. The relative movement of the slot track with the second track as the wipe sled is pushed backwards forces the wiper into a working position.

  • Patent number: 6400510
Abstract: A uniform illumination device satisfies the demands of having a short optic path, a smaller beam size, and desired parallel beams. The uniform illumination device has a beam splitting device for converting light from a light source into a plurality of parallel beams, and a beam condenser for condensing the parallel beams to form a more uniform condensed light. The beam condenser has a first condensing lens made of a convex lens, and a second condensing lens made of a concave lens. When the parallel beams transmitted from the beam splitting device pass through the first condensing lens of the beam condenser, the parallel beams converge to the central axis. When the parallel beams pass through the second condensing lens, the parallel beams converge towards axes that are parallel with the central axis. The parallel beams transmitted from the beam splitting device are mixed to form the more uniform condensed light.
