When the video is played, an image shift detection unit sequentially compares image data between consecutive or adjacent frames read from the memory card, and detects an amount of positional shift of a main subject between the frames. If the amount of positional shift is greater than or equal to a preset threshold value, displaying of the image data read from the memory card is stopped.
