Abstract: A method to enable mobility while connected to an Internet protocol network comprises receiving a first data packet from a mobile node at a first mobile gateway in a mobile-gateway-communication network via a first access point and determining if a communication session is ongoing responsive to receiving the first data packet. When it is determined that a communication session is not ongoing, the first mobile gateway is established as a home mobile gateway for the duration of the communication session. When the mobile node connects to a second mobile gateway in the mobile-gateway-communication network via a second access point during the communication session, a tunnel is opened from the second mobile gateway to the home mobile gateway so that the communication session is maintained regardless of the protocol implemented by the mobile node and the access points.

  • Publication number: 20040098573
Abstract: In a family of telecommunications modules or other circuit boards, driver software is divided into a core support package for initializing board components common to the family of circuit boards and one or more extended support packages specific to individual members of the family. This facilitates a reduction in the amount of programming effort needed across the family of circuit boards as the core support package need only be developed once for the family of boards rather than developing complete driver programs for each member of the family. The remaining programming effort can then be focused on the specialized subroutines. In addition, changes in hardware common to each member of the family can be accommodated by redeveloping only the core program. This need only occur once for the entire family, rather than once for each member of the family.

  • Patent number: 6701472
Abstract: There are disclosed methods and apparatus for testing memory components for faults, defects or the like, by generating a testing sequence that produces various bit combinations as well as current changes, that when coupled, stresses or fatigues the memory component, and allows for the evaluation of single bits. The testing sequence is provided in cycles, formed of complement word pairs of N bit words. The first, or initial, cycle typically includes a first word of all binary zeros. Successive or subsequent cycles include a shifted bit in each subsequent first word. The testing pattern is written into the memory component(s) under test and corresponding words are read from the memory component(s). The written and read words are then compared, with this comparison analyzed for detection of faults, defects or the like in the memory component(s).

  • Publication number: 20040022309
Abstract: The multiple modem apparatus has a number of analog front ends that feed analog signals to and receive analog signals from a modem controller circuit. The modem controller circuit has a codec function for sampling, quantizing, and digitizing the received analog signals. The codec additionally creates an analog signal from digitized signals received from the other side of the modem apparatus. A digital signal processing function provides digital processing of digital signals. An Ethernet device converts digital signals from the modem controller circuit to the Ethernet format and Ethernet signals going to the modem controller circuit are converted from the Ethernet format to digital data. A multiple modem apparatus controller controls the operation of the apparatus while providing synchronization of the multiple analog front ends and routing of data.
