Publication number: 20040088596Abstract: An output of a first data register is coupled to an input of a second data register. The same periodic clock signal clocks both data registers. A controller monitors the clock signal, a first load signal and a read signal. The controller generates a guard band signal using the clock signal and the first load signal. The controller also generates a second guard band signal from the read signal and the clock signal. A second load signal, that is used to load the second data register, is created by performing a logical AND operation on the two guard band signals.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 30, 2003Publication date: May 6, 2004Applicant: ADC DSL Systems, Inc.Inventors: Dennis J. Patent number: 6728367Abstract: An apparatus and method provide for filtering of voiceband and specified tone frequencies of a mixed voice/data signal, such as an Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) signal. A lowpass filter section passes voiceband content of the mixed signal and suppresses mixed signal content having frequencies falling within a databand of the mixed signal. A bandpass filter section is coupled to or integral with the lowpass filter section and passes the specified tone frequency, such as a metering or billing tone frequency. The lowpass and bandpass filter sections exhibit a combined frequency response that provides for a stopband between the voiceband and the metering tone frequency. The bandpass filter section effectively detunes a frequency response of the lowpass filter section to provide for the stopband.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2000Date of Patent: April 27, 2004Assignee: ADC Telecommunications, Inc.Inventor: Steven M. Patent number: 6721328Abstract: The present invention includes a method for clock recovery in a packet network. The method includes a network which receives data packets at a destination node. Then the data packets are stored in a buffer. The data packets are read out of the buffer by using a locally generated clock. The fill level of the buffer is monitored over a first period of time. A relative maximum fill level for the buffer is identified during the first period of time. Further, the relative maximum fill level is used to control the frequency of the locally generated clock so as to control the rate at which data is read out of the buffer.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1999Date of Patent: April 13, 2004Assignee: ADC Telecommunications, Inc.Inventors: Richard A. Patent number: 6712523Abstract: The present invention relates to bulkhead adapters for optically connecting two strands of optical fibers and including a length of optical fiber within the adapter for attenuating signals passing from one fiber to the other. The attenuation optical fiber is held within an attenuation hub inside the housing of the adapter. Attenuation of optical fiber signals transmitted through the adapter may be provided by the optical fiber, by an offset fusion of two optical fibers, by an airgap between two optical fiber segments, by the inclusion of a filter between two optical fiber segments, or by other structures. When an optical fiber with a connector is inserted into the adapter, the optical fiber is placed in optical contact with the attenuation optical fiber of the attenuation hub. The adapter can be inserted through an opening in a bulkhead so that optical fiber from one side of the bulkhead can be attached to optical fiber on the second side of the bulkhead.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2001Date of Patent: March 30, 2004Assignee: ADC Telecommunications, Inc.Inventor: Steven C. Publication number: 20040057536Abstract: An apparatus and method is described that allows for improved correlation of multiple signatures from an input datastream, reducing the complexity and memory size of the correlation operation by utilization of a multiple sequence indexing correlator. The multiple sequence indexing correlator keeps an index into each signature that indicates how many elements have been matched so that only the remaining portion of each signature must be compared to the input data stream. Because of this, no history of the input datastream is kept and only a small portion of each signature is compared at one time. Additionally, the multiple sequence indexing correlator allows for ease of signature modification or addition, pre-execution of functions, signatures with identical substrings but differing lengths to be detected, wild card signature elements, timeouts to determine signature end, null functions, execution hold off for extended signatures, and keystroke detection.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2002Publication date: March 25, 2004Applicant: ADC DSL Systems, Inc.Inventors: David J. Patent number: 6708830Abstract: A telecommunications equipment rack including vertical cable guides, horizontal troughs, cross aisle panels and cross-connection modules for telecommunications equipment racks. The vertical cable guides define vertical cable channels for both network infrastructure and cross-connection cables. The structure defining the second cable channel is hingedly attached to the structure defining the first cable channel. The horizontal cable troughs include both upper and lower troughs. The upper cable trough defines two cableways for directing cross-connection and other cables, and provides access openings for cables to pass into and out of each cableway and between the two cableways. The lower cable trough defines a cableway and provides access openings for cables extending into and out of the cableway. Cable troughs attached to adjacently mounted equipment racks cooperate to form continuous horizontal cableways.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2001Date of Patent: March 23, 2004Assignee: ADC Telecommunications, Inc.Inventor: Jose-Filonel T.
