Publication number: 20040004798Abstract: A junction field effect transistor (JFET), acting as a switch, is coupled between the source and gate of a metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET). A capacitor is connected in parallel with the MOSFET's “Miller capacitance” by being coupled between the gate and drain of the MOSFET in series with a current limiting resistor. When the JFET is on, it has a low impedance with zero gate voltage and forces the gate to source voltage of the MOSFET to remain near zero and, thus, the MOSFET in a high impedance state, until the capacitor charges to the supply voltage.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 8, 2002Publication date: January 8, 2004Applicant: ADC DSL Systems, Inc.Inventor: Joel F. Publication number: 20040004306Abstract: Methods for molding a surround over a liner to form a composite shell are provided. The liner is placed in a mold and molten surround material is injected into the mold so as to surround the liner. A surface of a protrusion of the liner abuts the mold so that the surface is exposed and is substantially flush with an exterior surface of the surround after the composite shell is removed from the mold. Molten surround material flows into a slot in a perimeter of the protrusion so that when the surround material solidifies, a rib of surround material extends into the slot to form a pressure seal between the liner and the surround. An adhesive is applied to the liner before placing the liner in the mold for reducing relative movement between the liner and surround as the surround material solidifies and the liner and surround cool.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2002Publication date: January 8, 2004Applicant: ADC DSL Aystems, Inc.Inventors: Michael Sawyer, Gary Gustine

Patent number: 6673699Abstract: An apparatus and method for batch processing semiconductor lasers producing substantially contamination free laser bar end surfaces for optimal growth of end surface layers are provided. The method includes loading a laser cell comprising a plurality of laser bars and an empty cassette capable of holding a plurality of laser bars into a cleaving chamber and pumping the cleaving chamber down to a desired pressure. Next, a cleaving cycle is performed in which an end laser bar is cleaved off the laser cell. The laser bar is deposited in the cassette, while the laser cell is positioned for a subsequet operation. The cleaving cycle repeats until a plurality of laser bars are cleaved off the laser cell and loaded into the cassette. The cassette is then moved into a deposition chamber where a layer of material is deposited on at least one end surface of all of the laser bars in the cassette.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2002Date of Patent: January 6, 2004Assignee: ADC Telecommunications, Inc.Inventors: Kevin J. Patent number: 6670029Abstract: A method of manufacturing a multi-layer, composite footwear upper having a three-dimensional geometry includes the steps of forming a substantially planar composite sheet from two or more layers, heating the composite sheet, and compression molding the composite sheet into the three-dimensional geometry of the footwear upper. The composite sheet is formed by laminating a first layer of thermoplastic foam to a second layer of thermoplastic urethane (TPU), preferably in the form of a TPU film. A third layer of mesh fabric can be interposed between the first and second layers. The composite sheet is compressed after heating in a mold cavity to achieve the desired three-dimensional geometry. The composite sheet can be compression molded into separate sections which are assembled after molding to form the footwear upper. Alternatively, the composite sheet can be compression molded into a seamless, unitary footwear upper that requires minimal, if any, assembly for completion.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2001Date of Patent: December 30, 2003Assignee: ADC Composites, LLCInventors: Edward J.
