Abstract: A method of automatic control of a digital television decoder operation uses an Electronic Program Guide system. When a program, from a control list created earlier by a user by selecting specific programs, starts, a decoder changes its operation mode from a sleep mode to an active mode. In the active mode the user can watch only the programs located on the list, and after the program from the list ends, and in case there are no other available programs on the list, the decoder changes its operation mode to the sleep mode. At each time when a new program from the list starts, the decoder generates an information signal. In the described solution there are available many lists controlling the operation of the decoder. The lists are created by the user or set by an operator, and the user chooses which of the lists should control the operation of the decoder.

Abstract: A device for selecting a channel of radio and television sets includes a signal receiving block (103) used to receive the signal (102) and if necessary converting it to a digital format, an A/V block (107) generating the signal to be displayed on the screen in a required format, a memory block (106) containing various types of memory, a central processing unit (105) controlling the functionality of the receiver and a power-on block (111) with a “Power-on” function used for switching-on a set. Channels viewed by the user for a time longer than a defined time interval are stored in the database. This database may be in the form of a list containing information about consecutively selected channels. It can also have the form of tables storing information about the viewing ratings of channels viewed at a given time. The statistics obtained from this database are used to set the appropriate channel upon switching-on the set.

Abstract: The method of switching channels in a receiver, especially in a digital television receiver in which groups are assigned to channels, characterized in that the channel is manually chosen, a switching takes place to receive the selected channel, the previously active group is deactivated by means of the control signal, the group assigned to the selected channel is activated, and next with the use of the switching function, the next or previous channel is selected, and after this the next or the previous channel, which belongs to the currently active group, is searched and by means of control signal the receiver is set to receive this channel.

Abstract: A cable modem for connecting Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) includes a Media Access Control (MAC) layer controller, a Logical Link Control (LLC) bridge (113) interacting with the MAC layer controller, an IP stack processing IP frames and interacting with the LLC bridge (113), CPE interfaces (115, 116 and 117) and a multiplexer (114) of Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) interfaces linked to the CPE interfaces and to the LLC bridge (113). The CPE interfaces (115, 116 and 117) communicate with the multiplexer (114) through appropriate functions. The multiplexer (114) has functionality allowing for servicing the flow of frames between the cable network and the interfaces linked to it, directing the received frames to appropriate interfaces.

Abstract: Dataflow inside the system is based on requests for packets send from an E superior system element (120). A packet appearing at one of the inputs of the first or second multiplexers (105, 109) is sent to its output. In case there is no packet at a given input, information about the lack of a packet is sent instead. The reading of the packet from one of the inputs and sending it to the output is activated by a packet request command, sent to modules (110, 111, 112, 113, 114, 115, 116, 117) connected to the given input. The requested packet, or information of its lack, is then awaited. Subsequently, a search for packets is conducted at the TV1, TV3 live signal inputs (101, 106), beginning with the input defined as the first in line. If no packet is found at the highest priority input, the search moves on to subsequent live signal inputs. If no packets are available at these inputs, the TV2 bitrate input (102) is checked, bypassing inputs with a coefficient of sending greater or equal to one.
