Abstract: A daylight loading device (40) for loading a microfiche cassette (10) with unexposed microfiches makes use of an inclined platform (50) having guides (51) and (52) upon which the microfiche cassette (10) may be positioned. Microfiches are fed from an adjacently positioned dispensing station (43) via a slot (46) and a transport roller pair. In order to provide for an optimum registering of the microfiche in the bottom of the microfiche cassette (10) a spadelike element (55) is temporarily positioned near the latter. Abstract: A device (40) for unloading microfiche casettes (10) in daylight conditions comprises a housing (41) into which the microfiche cassette (10) is introduced and which is light-tightly closed by means of a door (42). The exit of the housing (41) is coupled with the inlet of a processing apparatus (50) in which the microfiche undergoes its chemical treatment. The unlocking of the microfiche cassette (10) occurs by disengagement of the locks (19,20) under the influence of tapered portions from the openings (23,24) in the bottom of the microfiche cassette 10 (34,35). Opening of the cassette (10) is carried out by exerting a downwardly directed force upon the rearwardly protruding portion of screen (13). Due to the inclined position of the opened microfiche cassette (10), the microfiche contained in the latter slides towards the entry rollers of the processing apparatus (50).

Abstract: In the continuous high speed coating of webs having spliced joints by means of coating devices that are closely spaced from the webs, coating defects caused by the joints are avoided by splicing the webs by means of a splicing tape that is attached at one end to the front, i.e., coated, side of the old web and at the other end to the rear, i.e., uncoated, side of the new web, whereby only "step-up" discontinuities are formed at the splicing joint.

Abstract: Device and method for the optical inspection of speck-like and streaklike defects in a moving web.A source of radiation illuminates a transverse zone of the web, a series of photocells measures the radiation after transmission through, or reflection from the web, and a grating arrangement modulates the radiation received by the photocells, thereby to modulate the output signal of each cell by an A.C. component.
Abstract: An apparatus for opening radiographic cassettes comprises a housing which may be closed in a light-tight fashion and containing a platform onto which the radiographic cassette is positioned. Also, in the housing is an elongated upwardly inclined cam surface which engages a lip portion projecting from the cover of the cassette. When pushing the cassette further into the housing the cover becomes gradually lifted by the cam action. At a given position the cover is lifted sufficiently open to permit the introduction and removal of unexposed and exposed film into and out of the cassette. A release mechanism, upon actuation, enables the cassette cover to drop thereby closing and relocking the cassette. The apparatus is suitably incorporated in a daylight system for loading radiographic cassettes with unexposed radiographic films.

Abstract: A film cassette unloading apparatus comprises a cassette positioning mechanism located in a light-tight housing. Within the housing is provided a platform onto which the cassette is placed bottom side up. An unlocking mechanism, adapted for the particular type of cassette unlocks same. Then, an opening mechanism engages the rim of the bottom part and lifts the bottom part in upward direction, thereby performing a partial rotation around the hinge-point of the cassette. By mounting the platform in inclined position, the film which is contained in the cassette, falls out of the latter by gravity.
