Publication number: 20140140864Abstract: An arrangement for selectively making available hydraulic power in separate hydraulic circuits comprises two displacement machines, two free-wheels and a drive unit that is preferably arranged between the displacement machines. The free-wheels block in opposite directions and are coupled to the displacement machines. Consequently, the first displacement machine is driven in a first rotating direction of the drive unit while the second displacement machine is only driven in a second, opposite rotating direction of the drive unit. This makes it possible to realize an intermittent operation for selectively making available additional hydraulic power in separate hydraulic subsystems by choosing the rotating direction accordingly. This arrangement can reduce the weight and the complexity of a hydraulic system.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2014Publication date: May 22, 2014Applicants: AIRBUS OPERATIONS SAS, AIRBUS OPERATIONS GMBHInventors: Oliver Harten, Denis Descheemaeker, Lars Hoffmann, Sebastian Lauckner

Publication number: 20140138487Abstract: The present invention provides an aircraft assembly with a fixed structure and a high-lift device. The fixed structure has a spar, a forward part which provides a foremost edge of an aircraft wing, and a lower part which provides a lower surface of the aircraft wing. A high-lift device is downwardly movable relative to the fixed structure from a stowed configuration to a deployed configuration. The high-lift device has a forward part which provides a foremost edge of the aircraft wing and a lower part which provides a lower surface of the aircraft wing. Downward movement of the high-lift device causes progressive opening of a lateral gap between the lower part of the high-lift device and the lower part of the fixed structure. A retractable infill panel is arranged to progressively extend from a retracted configuration to an extended configuration to fill the lateral gap.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 20, 2013Publication date: May 22, 2014Applicant: AIRBUS OPERATIONS LIMITEDInventors: Mark HODKISSON, James WILSON, Samuel EVANS

Patent number: 8731744Abstract: The guiding mode transition aiding device includes a target heading determining device and a mode transition triggering system. The target heading determining device is configured to determine a target heading which represents the heading value reached by the aircraft at the end of a procedure of folding the wings of the aircraft flat from a current operating state. The mode transition triggering system receives the target heading and compares the target heading to a desired heading to be reached by the airplane to assist with triggering a transition between a rolling angle holding mode, in which the aircraft flies with a constant rolling angle, to a heading holding mode, in which the aircraft flies with a constant heading. This device and associated methods may be used during in flight refueling operations.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2011Date of Patent: May 20, 2014Assignee: Airbus Operations (SAS)Inventors: Pascale Louise, Alain Dupre, Anthony Atencia, Emmanuel Cortet, Xavier Dal Santo

Patent number: 8731870Abstract: A method of designing a composite panel, the panel comprising a plurality of zones, each zone comprising a plurality of plies of composite material arranged in a stacking sequence, each ply in each stacking sequence having a respective orientation angle. For each orientation angle a first layout matrix is created which identifies zones in the panel which contain at least one ply with that orientation angle. A second layout matrix is also created which identifies zones in the panel which contain at least two plies with that orientation angle, and so on up to an Nth layout matrix which identifies zones in the panel which contain at least N plies with that orientation angle. The layout matrices are arranged in a plurality of candidate sequences. Selection criteria are then used to choose one or more of the candidate sequences and stacking sequences are assigned to the zones in accordance with the chosen candidate sequence(s).Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2009Date of Patent: May 20, 2014Assignee: Airbus Operations LimitedInventor: Lars Krog
