  • Patent number: 11780120
Abstract: A device for manufacturing a composite component including a tool with a first and second sections forming first and second confinement surfaces, the sections movable relative to each other into and out of a fastening configuration. The device includes a closing mechanism with a closing section. In the fastening configuration, the first confinement surface and the second confinement surface face one another, and the sections and the closing mechanism are arranged such that a cavity is formed between the sections and the closing mechanism. The closing section is transferable from an open configuration into a closed configuration. In the closed configuration, the third confinement surface extends along a plane perpendicular to the first and second confinement surfaces, wherein, when the closing mechanism is heated from a first temperature to a second temperature, the closing section transfers from the open configuration into the closed configuration at a predefined temperature.

  • Patent number: 11780564
Abstract: A spoiler for an aircraft wing is movable between a stowed configuration and a deployed configuration in a “pop-up” manner. The spoiler includes a hinged top flap movable between a first position and a second position, wherein in the first position the hinged top flap is constrained by an actuator, and in the second position the hinged top flap is unconstrained by the actuator. When the hinged top flap is in the second position, airflow over the top surface of the aircraft wing acts to pull the spoiler into the deployed position.

  • Patent number: 11780558
Abstract: A support stay is provided to improve failsafe configurations for movable parts of an aircraft. The support stay supports the movable part with a primary body and a separate secondary body. The primary body and the secondary body provide separate load paths. The secondary body is attached to the primary body by a mechanical connection, e.g., rivets. If one of the bodies becomes structurally compromised, for example by a crack, this configuration does not transfer shear load between the primary and secondary body, so that the other body does not become structurally compromised.

  • Patent number: 11772434
Abstract: A method of monitoring the pressure of a tire of an aircraft is disclosed including taking two or more pressure readings from the tire at different times; calculating an estimated deflation rate based on the pressure readings; and calculating a time for the tire to deflate to a reference pressure level based on the estimated deflation rate. Two or more temperature readings are each associated with one of the pressure readings, and the estimated deflation rate is calculated by normalising each pressure reading based on its associated temperature reading and a common reference temperature to obtain a temperature-normalised pressure reading, and calculating the estimated deflation rate based on the temperature-normalised pressure readings. The estimated deflation rate is compared with a threshold, and a warning provided if the estimated deflation rate exceeds the threshold.
