Abstract: A method to monitor integrity of a signal generated and communicated in a distributed control module system for a hybrid powertrain system includes generating and verifying signal within an originating control module. A message is generated based upon the signal. The message is transmitted and received at a receiving control module. The signal is extracted from the message and its integrity is verified.

Abstract: A wind turbine control master unit has a communication interface and a signal processing unit. The communication interface is configured to receive a rotor rotational speed of at least a first and a second wind turbine over a communication link. Abstract: In a method and apparatus for detecting tumorous cell tissue in a gastrointestinal tract, electromagnetic radiation is emitted in a locally defined manner from an endoscope onto cell tissue and, after deactivation of the radiation, the decay of the inherent fluorescence intensity of the irradiated cell tissue, excited by the electromagnetic radiation, is detected, with temporal and spectral resolution and with a known scanning rate for at least one wavelength. From the intensity measurement values obtained in this manner, the difference autocorrelation function of the intensity decay is determined, from which a fractal dimension for the irradiated cell tissue is determined. The value of the fractal dimension is used to classify the irradiated cell tissue as to a degree to which the cell tissue is tumorous.
Abstract: Phase unwrapping is provided for phase contrast magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. The velocity values are unaliased. For a given location over time, a path over time through a directed graph of possible velocities at each time is determined by minimization of derivatives over time. The possible velocities are based on the input velocity, the input velocity wrapped in a positive direction, and the input velocity wrapped in a negative direction, so the selection to create the minimum cost path represents unaliasing of any aliased velocities.

Abstract: A drive system has a transmission unit with planetary gear stage and a first shaft associated with a planetary carrier and having a coupling flange connectable to a machine or rotor shaft. The transmission unit and a motor/generator unit includes a rotor connected with a rotation-lock to a hollow rotor shaft which is connected to a second shaft of the transmission unit and enclosed by a gearbox housing. A coupling is arranged radially between the second shaft and the hollow rotor shaft. A gearbox housing support with a hollow cylindrical extension is arranged between the transmission unit and the motor/generator unit. The cylindrical extension concentrically encloses an end section of the second shaft and forms a bearing seat for a bearing arrangement disposed radially between the second shaft and the cylindrical extension. The hollow cylindrical extension is concentrically enclosed by the rotor and the hollow rotor shaft.

Abstract: A vacuum switch tube has a housing which has two insulating housing regions arranged and configured symmetrically in respect of a center plane. Each of the two insulating housings contains a plurality of insulating housing parts. Shielding elements extend into the interior of the vacuum switch tube and are arranged between neighboring insulating housing parts and between insulating housing parts and neighboring additional housing parts. The shielding elements have improved dielectric properties and a simultaneously material-saving structure. Accordingly, the geometrical dimensions of the shielding elements are determined in dependence on a connected voltage and possible critical field strength between neighboring shields.

Abstract: An apparatus, especially a steam turbine, including a first delimiting part and a second delimiting part is provided. The delimiting parts are attached to one another forming a joint and enclosing at least a part of a first pressure chamber. Abstract: A cooling system is provided for a thermoelectric power generator and that is arranged in an exhaust gas line of an internal combustion engine for generating electric power while utilizing thermal energy of the exhaust gas. The thermoelectric power generator has its own coolant circuit, which also serves to raise the temperature of the components of the internal combustion engine, the chassis, and/or the transmission or serves to heat the passenger compartment. This offers the added utility gained from a faster temperature rise of transmission lubricants and lubricants of the internal combustion engine, as well as from heating the passenger compartment and the rear axle differential and, thus, offers a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2).

Abstract: A method and system for visualizing the spine in 3D medical images is disclosed. A spinal cord centerline is automatically determined in a 3D medical image volume, such as a CT volume. A reformatted image volume is then generated based on the spinal cord centerline. The reformatted image volume can be a straightened spine volume or a Multi-planar Reconstruction (MPR) based volume that follows the natural curve of the spine. The reconstructed volume can be displayed as 2D slices or 3D volume renderings.
