  • Publication number: 20150201021
Abstract: In a multimedia call center (MMCC) operating through an operating system, a client-specific self-help wizard is provided for active clients and updated periodically with information related to client transaction history with the MMCC. A connected client is presented by the wizard with a selective media function through which the client may a select a media type for interaction and help, and the MMCC will then re-contact the client through the selected media. The client, for example, may select IP or COST telephony, and the MMCC will place a call to the client to a number or IP address listed for the client, and interactivity will then be through an interactive voice response unit. Help information specific to a client is updated in the client's wizard periodically according to ongoing transaction history with the MMCC. The wizard may also monitor client activity with the wizard and make reports available to various persons.

  • Publication number: 20150201000
Abstract: A first source node transmits a first transmission vector formed by multiplying a vector of input values and an inverse of a transfer matrix that relates vectors transmitted from the first source node via a plurality of intermediate nodes to vectors received at a plurality of destination nodes. Each of the intermediate nodes transmits a vector formed by a linear operation performed on received vectors. The linear operation may be determined based on linear combinations of the first transmission vector and one or more second transmission vectors transmitted by second source nodes. The linear combinations are to be received at the destination nodes. The linear operation is chosen so that propagation of the first transmission vector through the intermediate nodes produces, at the destination nodes, predetermined linear combinations of the first transmission vector and one or more second transmission vectors transmitted by one or more second source nodes.

  • Patent number: 9081078
Abstract: In providing a wireless location communication service including a location based service to a user of a mobile device, the mobile device sends information concerning a location of the device relative to a given position in a wireless communication system. The given position may be that of a base station in the system. First information concerning a location of the base station (e.g, GPS information) is communicated to the mobile device, e.g., via broadcast. The mobile device determines second information concerning its location, e.g., based on signals from GPS satellites received thereby. The mobile device then generates relative location information based at least on the first and second information.

  • Patent number: 9083472
Abstract: A feed-forward equalizer can be used in the host optical receiver to perform at least some of the desired signal processing in the optical domain, e.g., prior to coherently detecting and digitizing the received optical signal(s). In some embodiments, the signal processing implemented in the feed-forward equalizer can at least partially compensate the adverse effects of chromatic dispersion, polarization-mode dispersion, and/or spatial-mode mixing/crosstalk imparted on the received optical signal(s) in the optical transport link. This reduces the signal-processing load of and the signal-processing requirements to the receiver's electrical DSP.

  • Patent number: 9084199
Abstract: In a 3G cellular network, a Reverse Link Channel Quality Indicator Channel (R-CQICH) may be transmitted on a reverse link to support forward link high-speed data transmissions. Accordingly, the R-CQICH may be utilized to track the quality of the signal path between the wireless unit and the base station. The base station may include a CQI component that utilizes a received Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) signal from the wireless unit to generate CQI quality metrics based on the quality of the received signal. Also, the CQI quality metrics may be compared to different thresholds to adjust various system configurations in the base station. The base station may also provide feedback to the wireless unit with the updated system configurations. This technique allows CQI quality metrics to be utilized to adjust system configurations dynamically and enhance the operation of a wireless system.

  • Patent number: 9081996
Abstract: The set T of all categories in a population of RFID tags is estimated within a specified error bound. For each of one or more frames, a reader broadcasts a probability p, a multiplicity d, a frame size M, and a seed value R to the present tags. A deterministic algorithm on each tag, and known to the reader, calculates (i) whether the tag will transmit in this frame, and, if so, (ii) in which slots the tag will transmit a single “1.” When the tags have responded, the reader calculates set T by initially assuming that all possible categories are in set T and then eliminating those categories that would have transmitted in those slots in which no tag transmitted. Alternatively, the reader initially assumes that set T is empty, and adds those categories that would have transmitted in those slots in which one or more tags did transmit.

  • Patent number: 9084036
Abstract: In one aspect, a method for performing signal source localization is provided. The method comprises the steps of obtaining compressive measurements of an acoustic signal or other type of signal from respective ones of a plurality of sensors, processing the compressive measurements to determine time delays between arrivals of the signal at different ones of the sensors, and determining a location of a source of the signal based on differences between the time delays. The method may be implemented in a processing device that is configured to communicate with the plurality of sensors. In an illustrative embodiment, the compressive measurements are obtained from respective ones of only a designated subset of the sensors, and a non-compressive measurement is obtained from at least a given one of the sensors not in the designated subset, with the time delays between the arrivals of the signal at different ones of the sensors being determined based on the compressive measurements and the non-compressive measurement.
