  • Patent number: 9030045
Abstract: The present invention may be embodied as an uninterruptible power supply comprising an input section, an output section, an inverter section, and a transformer. The transformer is operatively connected to the input section, the output section, and the inverter section. The uninterruptible power supply operates in a line mode and in a standby mode. In the standby mode, the output section generates an output power signal from a standby signal generated by the inverter section based on the alternative power source and at least one inverter control signal. When the uninterruptible power supply operates in the standby mode, the at least one inverter control signal is pulse-width modulated during at least a first portion of a cycle of the output power signal and not pulse-width modulated during at least a second portion of the cycle of the output power signal.

  • Patent number: 8869747
Abstract: A system for monitoring a teat cleaning and disinfectant before a milking operation is started that comprises one or more controllers that are configured to monitor various operating parameters of the system. In an embodiment, the current supplied to a motor that drives scrubbing elements in an applicator in order to identify or determine when a teat of a cow is inserted and then removed from the applicator during a wash mode and dry mode. The controller is programmed to count each teat that is properly prepped for milking in order to determine the number of cows that have been properly prepped for milking. If certain thresholds, such as predetermined number of teats on a cow, have not been met a cow is not counted as having been properly prepped.

Abstract: A sealless die assembly with a backing element is disclosed. A first die assembly cooperates with a second die assembly to form a sample-holding chamber. At least one of the die assemblies includes a die and a housing that are separated from one another by a radial gap such that the die is rotatable relative to its housing. A thin film is positioned to bridge the gap between the die and its housing to maintain pressure in the sample-holding chamber. A backing element cooperates with the die housing to interface with the film, and the backing element is spaced from its corresponding die. The backing element helps to transfer torque from the sample to the torque transducer. The die assembly may be incorporated into a rheometer or other sampling measuring apparatus for testing process characteristics of a material.
