  • Patent number: 4577892
Abstract: For supplying a pressurized cooling liquid to the outlet openings in a cutting head, there is provided an axial supply bore (3) opening into a distributing chamber. Radial passages (11) are provided which open into the distributing chamber and lead to the outlet openings at the periphery of the rotating cutting head. The distributing chamber is designed as a space coaxially surrounding the axial bore (3), being closed at its front side and having its mantle stationary arranged. At least two radial bores (9, 10) of opposite radial direction adjoin this annular space and are displaced in axial direction of the bore (3). The cutting head is sealingly guided on the non-rotating mantle of the annular space.

  • Patent number: 4573861
Abstract: An apparatus for feeding and rotating a sheet metal element comprises a frame and a carriage displaceably mounted on the frame for feeding the sheet metal element. The sheet metal element is selectively gripped in a predetermined plane by a non-rotatable gripping jaw mounted on the carriage, a rotary backing jaw rotatable about an axis extending perpendicularly to the plane, and a rotary gripping jaw carried by the frame independently of the carriage and rotatable about the axis, the non-rotatable gripping jaw and the rotary gripping jaw being adapted selectively to cooperate with the rotary backing jaw to grip the sheet metal element therebetween. The backing jaw is alternately and selectively forced against the non-rotatable or the rotary gripping jaw to grip the sheet metal element therebetween, and a rotary drive is mounted on the frame independently of the carriage and is operable to rotate the rotary gripping jaw when the sheet metal element is gripped between the rotary gripping and backing jaws.

  • Patent number: 4572453
Abstract: A coiler comprises a rotatably mounted coiler shaft, adapted to be driven, and a hollow reel, non-rotatably connected to the coiler shaft and containing a mechanism for expanding the coil. The expanding mechanism is adapted to be actuated by an actuator and comprises radially adjustable pressure-applying members, adapted to protrude through apertures in the reel at its periphery. To ensure that the coiler will be operable even under high loads, the pressure-applying members are spaced along the reel and mounted on two diamatically expanding opposite members, operatively connected to the actuating mechanism. The expanding members are pivoted on diametrically opposite axes which extend parallel to the axis of the coiler shaft.

  • Patent number: 4572281
Abstract: To recover the sensible heat of slag the slag is allowed to solidify on the surface of a hollow cooling body provided with a liquid internal cooling and is indirectly cooled by the liquid internal cooling. The liquid cooling medium of the liquid internal cooling is guided in a thermodynamic cyclic process. In order to ensure as completely a recovery of the sensible heat of the slag as possible and a high percentage of glassy portions of the slag as well as a good grindability of the slag, the liquid slag on the surface of the cooling body is intensively cooled indirectly by the liquid cooling medium to a temperature of closely below the solidification temperature in a first cooling step. The solidified slag separated from the surface of the cooling body is then directly cooled by a gas flow in a second cooling step. The heated gas flow also is guided in a thermodynamic cyclic process.

  • Patent number: 4571796
Abstract: Two juxtaposed cross slides provided with toolholders are slidably mounted on the saddle of a lathe. To permit an unrestricted use of lathe tools as well as of boring, drilling and milling tools, each cross slide is movable independently of the other. One of the two cross slides carries a turret on the side which is remote from the other cross slide. Said other cross slide carries a tool head, which comprises a tool spindle, which is adapted to be rotationally driven. That tool head is mounted for angular adjustment on an axis which is at right angles to the tool spindle, to the main axis of the lathe, and to the guide for said other cross slide.

  • Patent number: 4557833
Abstract: In an apparatus for dewatering water-containing materials, endless sieve belts (1,2) are passed over rolls (8) bearingly supported within substantially mutually parallel frames (7, 11) one of which is movable in direction to the other and is additionally shiftable in a substantially parallel relation to the other and thus transversely to the direction of said adjusting movement and can be fixed in its position. • Patent number: 4555143
Abstract: For cutting rock by means of cutting head (1) having its bits (24) cooperating over a limited axial shifting stroke (a) with a cylinder-piston-aggregate, for example a valve (18), it is proposed to intermittently subject the cylinder-piston-aggregate to the action of pressurized fluid, thus exposing the bit (24) during its engaging the rock to percussion forces. During the phases lacking any action of pressurized fluid onto the cylinder-piston-aggregate, the bit (24) shall be pushed into its starting position. This embodiment can be realized with both hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder-piston-aggregates, noting that in case of an embodiment having a hydraulic cylinder-piston-aggregate it is preferred to design this cylinder-piston-aggregate as a valve (18) which simultaneously provides the possibility to expel pressurized liquid via a spraying nozzle (32) onto the mine face. • Patent number: 4552263
Abstract: The loading ramp (1) of a heading machine or longwall shearing machine has swivelable loading arms by means of which the cut material is removed onto a conveying means. The surface of the loading ramp (1) can be increased by outwardly swivelling of parts (2). The loading arms (5) are driven by using a pivotal point (6) on a rotary disc (7), noting that a further swivel point (12) is provided outwardly of the circle described by a rotary pivotal point (6) on the rotary disc. The loading arm (5) is guided in a shiftable manner at the swivel point (12) and sweeps when driving the rotary disc (7) over a removal area (15, 18) defined by the relative position of the pivotal point (6) and the swivel point (12). The swivel point (12) is connected with the laterally extendable part (2) and is displaced together with the laterally extendable part (2) thus varying the removal area (15, 18).
