Abstract: A gas turbine includes a rotor concentrically surrounded by a casing, with an annular hot gas channel axially extending between the rotor and the casing. The rotor is equipped with a plurality of blades, which are arranged on the rotor in an annular fashion. Each of the blades is mounted with a root in a respective axial slot on a rim of the rotor radially extending with an airfoil into said hot gas channel and adjoining with an axially oriented root surface to an annular rim cavity. Cooling means are provided at the root of each of said blades to receive cooling air being injected into said rim cavity through stationary injecting means. An optimized cooling is achieved by providing the root surface to be an essentially plane surface and the cooling means including a scoop for capturing and redirecting at least part of the injected cooling air, which scoop is designed as a recess with respect to the root surface.

  • Publication number: 20140109586
Abstract: The invention discloses a method for operating a gas turbine with sequential combustion, which gas turbine includes a compressor, a first combustor with a first combustion chamber and first burners, which receives compressed air from the compressor, a second combustor with a second combustion chamber and second burners, which receives hot gas from the first combustor with a predetermined second combustor inlet temperature, and a turbine, which receives hot gas from the second combustor. The CO emission for part-load operation is reduced by reducing the second combustor inlet temperature for base-load operation of the gas turbine, and increasing the second combustor inlet temperature when decreasing the gas turbine load (RLGT) from base-load to part-load.

  • Patent number: 8702376
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a radially fed axial steam turbine with a cold inlet duct, axially displaced from a hot inlet duct such that is it further away from a first blade row than the hot inlet duct. The cold inlet duct receives a cold steam from a cold inlet spiral and directs it into the hot inlet duct in such a way that a boundary layer of cold steam is formed over the rotor circumferential surface between the outlet end of the cold inlet duct and the blade and vane rows. The rotor circumferential surface is also adapted to promote and maintain the boundary layer. In this way, a maximum temperature to which the rotor is exposed can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 8700223
Abstract: An estimation unit can estimate, on a real-time basis, a maximum power generation capacity of a single cycle or combined cycle gas turbine power plant. For example, the actual power output and the maximum power generation capacity can be calculated relying on a mathematical process model. Subsequently, the calculated actual power output can be compared with the measured power output yielding a model-estimation error. Based on the model-estimation error, a correction signal can be deduced, to correct the calculated maximum power generation capacity. A controller can maintain a specified power reserve. The controller can use an estimate of the maximum power generation capacity as a reference, subtract a load offset, and apply the resulting signal as upper limit of the load set-point.
