Abstract: A spray dryer disperser 24, 26, 28, 30 is described for use in a spray dryer absorption (SDA) system 18 for flue gas FG impurity reduction. As such, the spray dryer disperser 24, 26, 28, 30 disperses absorbent liquid or reagent slurry droplets into contact with a hot flue gas FG stream containing gaseous impurities to produce a flue gas FG stream of reduced impurity content and dry powder end products EP. The spray dryer disperser 24, 26, 28, 30 is useful in larger capacity SDA vessels 22 of approximately 12 to 22 meters in diameter or larger, to avoid disperser 24, 26, 28, 30 shroud 34a scale deposits, to avoid reagent slurry spray cloud suppression, to avoid vessel 22 wall 22b scale deposits and to achieve increased droplet rotational momentum for increased droplet flue gas FG penetration for efficient impurity reduction.

Abstract: A steam power plant is suggested having, parallel to the low-pressure passage (VW1 to VW2), a heat reservoir (A) which is loaded with preheated condensate in weak-load times. This preheated condensate is taken from the heat reservoir (A) for generating peak-load and inserted downstream of the low-pressure preheater passage (VW1 to VW2) into the condensate line that contacts the feed water container (8). Thus it is possible to quickly control the power generation of the power plant in a wide range without significantly having to change the heating output of the boiler of the steam generator (1). A steam power plant equipped according to the invention can thus be operated with bigger load modifications and also provide more control energy.

Abstract: A first unit configured to generate and transmit a code of positive and negative DC pulses through a first rail of a railway. A second unit spaced from the first unit and configured to sense the code, which includes a leading code word, having a positive or negative timing pulse followed after a first data interval by a positive or negative data pulse, followed by a modifying code word. The modifying code word consists of a second positive or negative timing pulse followed after a second data interval by a second positive or negative data pulse. The second timing pulse starts after one code cycle from the start of the leading code word timing pulse. The second timing pulse and the second data pulse duplicate the timing pulse and the data pulse of the same polarity, but invert the timing pulse and the data pulse of opposite polarities.

Abstract: A method of controlling a current breaking device in a high-voltage electricity network is disclosed. In one aspect, the method includes, for each phase (A, B, C), obtaining missing supply voltages from an acquired supply voltage, performing healthy phase/faulty phase discrimination, conducting voltage analysis by attempted matching of a model over a signal window, choosing a strategy of simple closing or reclosing of the breaking device as a function of choice conditions, calculating a set of optimum reclosing times for each phase in accordance with the chosen strategy, and selecting an optimum time from the proposed optimum times and closing the phases of the current breaking device.

Abstract: A tuning process is provided for dynamically tuning a gas-turbine (GT) engine to correct for flashback events without directly measuring occurrences of the flashback events at the GT engine. Initially, readings are taken that measure low-frequency dynamics at the GT engine. A determination of whether flashback criteria are met by an instantaneous signal that quantifies a detected spike within the measured low-frequency dynamics is carried out, where the flashback criteria include the following: identifying the spike overcomes a multiple of an average of the low-frequency dynamics measured over a predefined period of time; and identifying the spike overcomes a preestablished minimum amplitude. Upon the spike meeting the flashback criteria, a count is added to a running record of spikes, which is compared to an alarm limit. If the alarm limit is triggered, action(s) are invoked to address the flashback events, such as adjusting fuel-flow splits of the GT engine.

Abstract: A power supply vital monitor for track circuits for railway systems includes a track segment that is separated from adjacent segments by electric joints. Each track segment includes a signal transmitting unit and receiving units for transmitting and receiving train presence detection signals and/or transmitting or receiving communication signals between the train and the track segment. The transmitting unit and receiving units are connected to a common power supply line. To avoid an erroneous clearing of an occupied status caused by spurious signals on the power supply line affecting reception of the train detection signals, each receiving unit includes a first and a second channel, which connect the receiver with the corresponding track circuit and with a power supply sensor connected to the power supply line. Switches enable and disable connections of the receivers to the corresponding track circuit and to the corresponding power supply sensor.
